\\\\What is a 99.5////

I own a 99' SE, but I was wondering what is the definition of a 1999.5 year model? How do car manufacturers determine this?

They determine it as a car released halfway through the "normal" model year. Oh, and, if you ever do the \\\\\\ ////// thing again, I'll see to it that a mod has a word with you. It's incredibly annoying and unneccessary.

The date your car was manufactured. Check on the inside of the driverside door on the B-pillar. Im not sure what date is considered 99.5 though.

However, If there is an emblem on your front fenders that sould say SE then limited under it. That would men your car is a 99.5.

That's only if it's an SE (SE-L). I know his is an SE, but just incase other people are reading this thread that want to know.

.a 99.5 maxima is a 5th gen.
ehhh that might be pushing it. I personally consider the 5th gen be to the refreshed bodystyle, NOT a 99.5, those are 4th gens. I realize the 00's were available in september of 99, but..

Just because it was released in '99 does not make it a '99.5. '00's are '00's, end of story. A 99.5 is a 4th gen. You cannot go back and change history, it's already happened and that's how it is.

A 99.5 can be the last of the 4th gen and the beginning of the 5th gen. It is the month and year it was manufactured.

I have a 1999 model and it was manufactured in 06/98.

Exactly, yours is a 1999.....not a 1998... a 5th gen is 2000 plus. Just becuase it was manufactered/sold in 1999 it is not considered one.

mine was made in 06/98 also but its a 99. if you have an SE-L then you have a 99 1/2 . The se-l from what i understand was produced after the regular model year productions were done. the se/l has a badge on the door, titanium colored gauges and rims and a few other things i cant remember. ITS NOT an 00 and never could be.

Um... Not quite.... and I can't believe nobody got this right yet...

The 99.5 model is when Nissan made the emissions on the VQ up to the standards of California specifications. It happended at the end of the 4th gens mfg. run. Most of them are designated as SE-L's with a few extra trim options.

Volkswagon also had .5 model specs on their Passat a few years back. My buddy owned one, it was a 2000.5 V6 Passat.

Several Mfg's make slight changes mid way through production and designate them as 1/2 year model specs.

Really, I consider my 4th Gen a 6th Gen because it had its last oil change in 2006.

There was a70 1/2 Camara and a 63 1/2 Ford. These cars are actually known as this. A 70 Camara was late getting released and the 63 Ford had the square back and the 63 1/2 Ford had the fast back roofline for NASCAR racing. How many 83 Corvettes are there, Only one still exists. The other one was cut up.

Yes, there was also a half year Porsche 944, a half year B5 S4 (2001.5), blah blah... it's not exactly a new practice. What's your point?

When I shopped for some parts for my 2K, I was told by Nissan parts dept that in theory there is a 99.5 and it is an early 5th gen made in '99. First few 5th gen cars that came off the mfg line are known by Nissan as 99.5 though they are sold as '00. Some parts were upgraded soon thereafter and newer cars of that run are known as 2K...

I would not know... It's possible... The sure way to find out is to get the VIN and call in Nissan and let them verify based on it...

gosh, this really IS a retarded thread! lol...do ya'll not read magazines??? They call all the new models the year preceding it with a .5 at the end...like when the 2004 maxima was released, it was a 2003.5 because that's just a nickname given to the cars that were made earliest for each particular model...ya'll are reading too much into this...by calling it a '99.5 doesn't mean it has a 4th gen body...it IS a 5th gen..it's just the NICKNAME given to it to signify that it was built early...nothing more, nothing less...

Ok, that's nice and all, and it may hold true in some situations, but not this one. The '99.5 is a 4th gen, it is the designation for the '99's that had a bunch of little changes made to them during the model year. It also includes the SE-L's. Ever notice some '99's are SE's and others are SE-L's?

We get it, just please stop spreading misinformation about the '99.5's.
