Compression Tester Question

i just bought an Actron Comp Tester and it comes with this adapter. See link for pics.

I was just wondering if i need to use this adapter when doing the check. It seems like i should, but i've never used one so i figured i'd ask first. thanks.

the pics are both the same size??? but from what i do understand, your saying yes to using the adapter, right???
