After two months of putting it off, I'm finally ready to check and/or replace the rear o2 sensor and the knock sensor on my 95 SE. My check engine codes correspond to these sensors.

Does it make any difference which is done first? What about the wait time between the jobs...must they be fixed at the same time to make the fix good?

Finally; How about my procrastination...have I damaged my car by waiting too long to make the repairs?

Thanks!!

The O2 sensor will increase your emmisions, but shouldn't have much of an effect on your performance. The knock sensor will retard your timing, causing you to lose power. If I had to choose, get the knock sensor fixed first. As for whether or not the 'fix' will be complete only after fixing both, I couldn't tell. It is quite possible that fixing one will cause the other problem to 'disappear'. Have you damaged your car, couldn't tell you, but make sure that it gets thoroughly looked at after fixing it.

I respectfully disagree. I suggest you get the Oxygen Sensor fixed first. I agree with Medicsonic that fixing one sensor may clear both codes.
