Sell It Or Keep It?

ok my friend has a 97 se 5spd maxima, with around 156k on it,the problems he has is this
-Needs a New Tranny
-Needs cat-back (pipes fell off)
-Needs to fix his E-brake Cable
so i told him he should just sell it and get another Max, becuz he is looking at around 700 for the tranny then maybe 1000 for labor, around 200-500 for the pipes (depending what he gets) and 150 labor also, which will give him around 2350.00 maybe that just guessing altogether, but he wont sell it becuz he refuse's to take nothing less then 2000.00 for the car which will be good becuz he could add the 2350.00 to the 2000 and get another max, but he doesnt think it will sell for that much.

What will you guys do? keep it or sell it? I been looking around for parts for him, but he doesnt buy them when i find them for him lol.

-he needs a starter also 4got to add it in

If you do the labor yourself, and can find and rebuild a junkyard tranny, or maybe luck out on someone parting out their car, I say just keep the car and replace whatever needs to be replaced.

Otherwise, I say just sell it.

ya with 156K it won't sell for much especially with all the problems u listed. I would say buy another one, cause fixing it would just be a pain in the ***.

depends on how much you get for it. obviously, if it's like a G, then don't sell it. it's not so bad to have a project car. good luck, dude..

trans $500, cable ?, exhaust ,150-550, starter 100-300, should be able to fix it for under or about a $1000 if you do it yourself. Even if you don't do the trans, no more than $500 to get installed. I would fix it then sell a few months later for a decent price $3000 give or take.
