well depends on the eclipse...gsx/gst will have the advantage (given driver skill is equal)...gs/rs is a sure enough hell yeah (good driver or not u should mop the floor with them)

most definately, those autos are hard to mash the pedal in the ground... hehe, i dunno how and outcome would come from a gsx or gst, but you'll definately take and rs or gs if you have a good reaction time..

hmmm

i know a guy with a modded auto GST, he talked alot of s#it like his car was fast or something. He has a modded 1st gen BOV, intake, exhaust, and probably some other DSM specific stuff. Not sure about a boost controller, i dont know the guy well, and this was about 1 year ago exactly. so i expected him to hit a 14 second timeslip (that would be decent for a "fast" auto GST like he said his was). We went to the track last summer, his best time was a 16.003, i dont remember his traps. I was in my bone-stock at the time honda civic ex coupe, and i ran a 16.20@85.06, on some VERY HEAVY 17" Team Dynamics wheels. needless to say, i was incredibly dissappointed with the performance of his car. Granted, it was about 90 degrees out, but still...

Stock for stock, you should be able to take him. I have raced a Talon Tsi and an Eclipse GS-T when I was stock, and took both cars. I am assuming they were stock as well, and for sure they were both 5spds. Both races were similar in that we started on a roll, and I started behind the cars and pulled around them by close to 90 mph. Good stuff. They can be modded to get crazy hp (supposedly, if you missed the flame war a few weeks ago), but stock they aren't that great. Just be sharp and don't miss a shift. The auto should be a pushover regardless of what trim, as long as he's stock...

I've driven 2001 eclipse GS and GT, and was very disappointed both times with performance. The GS was manual, and the GT had that auto with self shifting option, whatever that's called. I hated that. Way too much lag and both times the performance was nothing special.
