TPS testing and replacement(can't drive car now)
I have had escalading problems with my idle. It started in a parking lot just sputtering and it died and I was like WTF. But now my car will die at red lights and while I am making turns, it will cut off b/c I don't have my foot on the gas. It bucks going down the road but sometimes it will run fine. But, it has been getting worse. I can't drive it anymore. It is just to aggrevating and unsafe.
Unless I discover something else I beleive it to be my trottle position sensor. I have multimeter I bought and the plug itself test fine, 5 volts. The TPS tested fine with the correct resistance w/ closed and full throttle. The problem was with the wide open/closed throttle switch. It showed no resistance in the test. Haynes says to check for continuity. I am alittle unclear on this part but I showed no ohms. Is this correct? I am getting frustrated with this. Has anyone had these problems and replaced the TPS and their car run fine? Also, I went to the dealership and they want $160 for a new TPS. Any suggestions on where to find an better price? |
uhh first of all you supposed to adjust the tps sensor look at the stickies.. plus you can get a tps sensor from autozone for 65 dollars

The first part of the answer I don't get. I checked the stickies and didn't see anything about adjusting the TPS. My TPS doesn't look like it could be adjusted. But the last part of your answer, thanks, I could have sworn I checked there but maybe I missed it. Thanks for the replies.... |
look on google you supposed to adjust the tps i dont remember what it is.. make sure you do it cuz if you dont ur car will run like crap...
