MEVI anyone?

so im gettin the itch to add another mod to my 96 max. i was very happy with the power increase from my headers and full exhaust, but i need more power! i just got my 5th gen clutch in, and want to get a MEVI. i found one at courtesyparts.com http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchan...e=A32-MANIFOLD

1. what else will i need for install?
2. do i need to get an ecu upgrade? which is the best?
3. does the car need to be dyno tuned after install? ( i would think so)
4. should i buy it from courtesy parts or look for a used one on a pathfinder?

so anything you guys can recommend or tell me about your experiences would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

there was a MEVI versus 3.5 Variable intake thread a few months ago too. I think it was in the all motor forum. Had a lot of good input and numbers.

1. vacuum canister, relay, rpm switch.
2. you don't need to, but it is recommended to get full benefits.
3. no idea actually...
4. try a used one in the for sale section, I don't think pathfinders have a mevi, I believe they have a VG or VE engine or something.

sorry, but my first reaction was if you are that power-hungry, you might want to look at a different platform than a 4-door family sedan. don't get me wrong. personally, i think mine is fast enough!

i would strongly suggest an upgraded ECU that will extend the redline. a MEVI is mainly used to increase the top end of the powerband where power typically drops off rapidly. paired with an ECU, they will compliment eachother and the benefits will be much greater.

i would suggest looking in the 4th gen forums for a used one for sale. save a few pennies and it may include everything you need.

as far as the pathfinder, that's news to me. i'm pretty sure they were only on foreign-manufactured VQ's.

Where? Why would anyone compare the 2? No one on here has a MEVI on their 3.5L.

Not all of them, but if you're referring to the Maxima, seems as if you're betweem 4 and 5 years late on that one.

Like any car, you need to see your a/f and take it from there. This mod isn't known to be a big 'a/f altering mod' .. such as the headers on an 02/3 where the A/F gets wacked.

Why would you look for a used one from a Pathfinder? This thread is about a MEVI, and Pathfinders never came with a MEVI. Maybe you mean the 00VI, but it still is not found on the Pathfinder...just because they're both black, doesn't mean they're the same.

i thought the mid to late 90's pathfinders had a mevi. guess not, but i swaer i heard that somewhere.

thanks for the input, i think im just gonna go with the ecu then. mevi might be too much work and start some problems i dont want to deal with.

where did you guys get your ecus?

the only reason I would see anyone using a dyno to tune the MEVI would be to get the most accurate activation point set.

Does TS still reprogram our ecu's? I read that some one called and they told him they don't reprogram our ecu's. If this is true JWT is you're only expensive option.

^^ even if ts doesn't upgrade ecus anymore they never figured out the extended rev. The ts ecu is 500 and the jwt is 560 only a 60 dollar difference. You got to pay to play. You could also get a EU once they get everything working and figured out.
