I want to know how you got your speedo needle to light up so bright. That was my only problem with the 95-97 guages.

If you get the leds that have the cup tipped they distribute the light evenly.
Im not sure there will be enough room for the multiple led one to fit in there.

You should've used red led's... prepare for pink gauges in the near future. Looks good though.

Looks nice. I got a 96 Max so I didn't need to white out the needles. I threw in some blue 194 LED bulbs about a year ago. They still light up thike they did from day one. No problems yet. You should do the rest of your car the same color as your gauges. I did my window switches, gauges, clock, and climate control in blue. It's a pain to do but it was well worth it.

I have only had the amber 194's in for the night.. I took those pics rght after i finished it.. I also have some 6LED amber 194's on backup for when they fade.. I just decided to use some halogen bulbs to see the difference in output, color, and hotspots.. there is no trick to getting the speedo needle to light up so well.. just took about 30 min after having it plugged in for minor adjustments of the LED's.. you have to get the angle almost perfect since they dont have a wide range of light output..

FR33way- No the inconsistency of the light is not from the camera.. it is from the positioning of the LED for the speedometer.. its at just the right angle that it shines out of the cap on the needle..

95SEfreak - You are still going to have hot spots with the 5LED i still have some with my 6LED.. and they just barely fit in the hole.. just perfect though.. I got the chrome gauge rings from custommaxima.com.. but you can probably get them off of ebay or something also..

incognito903 - no rigging on the alpine.. thats the way it comes.. actually i can change the color of the buttons from green to orange.. most come with a choice.. i dont know about the newer ones though..

VIPmaxima - no write up here.. just used the write up in the stickys for the LED needles.. and used regular bulbs for the backlight.. btw nice car.. sharp yet suttle..

thanks for all the compliments and opinions..

i do not know why everyone is talking about the bulbs, fading.......they are leds, they do not create much heat so they never fade......

He said he originally used regular 194 red bulbs, and that he has a set of red 194 led's for when they fade.

Looks nice, did you have to do any modding to put in the 194 bulbs?

No i said i have some Amber 6LED 194's for when they fade..

no modding needed for the 194's.. just plug them in.. only modding is with the LED Needles.. and there is a write-up in the stickies..

Wow, awesome gauges! I just bought a soldering iron so I need to get some LED's and figure out how to do that to mine! I'm going to install my chrome gauge rings at the same time. I have the orange needles though so I'm not sure if I can sand that off or not.

Yes if you have SE gauges (white gauges) they will sand off.. If im not mistaken all the gauge clusters (no matter what you have GLE, GXE, or SE) will all sand off.. that is what i did to mine was sand the orange off and then paint the underneath of them again (just white this time) so that any color you choose for your LEDs will show up better..

Ethnic6 - changing it to what color? the reason i chose orange is 1) i like the orange and white contrast, and 2) it matches almost perfect with the colors on my CD Player.. to each their own.. im interested as to what colors you would choose though..

Gauges look great man! I'm doing my interior over this summer in red. I think I'm keeping the white gauges with red needles tho. But I might swap to red gauges and white needles...any thoughts guys?

Not to raise the dead, but what about using those "flat" mult-led bulbs instead the inverted ones? Would those give you an even light since they have the leds on the top and sides?
http://autolumination.com/images/aut...1w_y_wmark.jpg
I have these for my corner lense bulbs and they distribute an even, uniform, wide light. The bulb has very small leds going around the top on the side and 6 small leds on the flat top (so the top "bulb" part of this bulb is actually smaller than a regular led/non-led 194 bulb)
