I currently have a 96 Max with a Y-pipe and CAI. What would be the next best mod to do. I was going to do the rest of the exhaust but I don't think I'll really see any gains performance wise. Is the ECU upgrade worth doing? I would do the 00vi mod but I haven't found any write ups on it and I don't really have the knowledge to do it. I have about $1000 to play with. Any recommendations?

00vi would probably be your best bet, that's about $400, then a nice catback will take another $500. Then get a hooker.

Or if you're looking for some cheap raw power, get a nitrous kit, you can get a full kit and quite a few bottle refills for $1k.

If I were in your situation I would go with the ECU Upgrade. I'm actually trying to get rid of my Stillen Muffler if your interested. I'm going back to stock tail pipe. Sick of getting pulled over.

Your wrong. I had a y-pipe only also. When i added the catback to mine, I felt even more power.. When you add a catback to your y-pipe, you open up the rest of the power that the stock catback was holding.. Trust me, buy a catback exhaust

With a g you can get the 00VI and perhaps a piggy back system. Those two alone would give you the most power. Everything else just provides fractions of hp/tq to your overall car performance.

If I was looking for purely performance, I wouldn't spend any significant amount of money on anything until I could buy a supercharger.

Other than that, you didn't mention suspension either. Might be a good investment.

I put new shocks and springs in a few months ago so suspension is ok. I am interested in the 00vi but like I said I don't think I know enough to get it done. I've been looking for a write up on how to do it but I can't find one. All I can find are posts of people having problems with it. I also read there are a number of different options you can choose from as far as some of the parts but I'm just looking for a write up from someone who successfully completed it without problems. I don't really care about the different ways it can be done I just care about one that works. Anyone know where I can find a good write up on how to install it?

best idea all thread.

go with that. OH! and a type-R sticker! those two will give you a solid 25HP gain.

(im thinking of doing home made underbody lights on my car as a joke.. using computer cold cathode light kits. should cost about $30 haha)

what about a underdrive pulley is that a waste, It's something that will go along with the supercharger mod he's looking into later now and it's aroung 150-200 bucks

I know a bunch of people are still looking for an 00VI write up and I found an ok one. It doesn't go into too much detail but it should be enough to get the job done so if anyone is interested, here it is.

http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=121423

If I can find a good price on the parts, I'm just going to do the 00VI swap and if enough is left over, get an ecu upgrade to go along with it and up the rev limiter.
