Just got into an accident
Just got into a accident in the maxima, rear ended by a 04 Lexus es330
it happened after i came to a complete stop, within a second or so it felt like my car was hit by a rocket or something LOL
apprently he didn`t even step on the brake when it happened, he was going 40 ish, his car was completely ****ed up, hood was crooked and stand half way up the windshield, the front looks like he was slamming right into a wall
my car looked alright , crooked trunk/bumper, part of the trunk looks like it was "folded" up a little bit, quarter panal in-dented a little by the force. crooked muffler/spare tire well. all doors works fine tho. But what i am worring about the most is that if my car can become a total lost. . With the cash i will be getting i should be able to buy a 5 speed then boost it right the way without having to spend the extra dollars to make it manual. Here`s a few pic, what do u guys think could it be a total lost or not LOL
anyway i am amazed how tough this car is. prob.ly becasue of the 4x4 ride height (bumper level with his hood). no one belive how **** up his car is when they saw the damage on my car.

This car was a total loss (RIP
) , $7500 worth of damage. They gave me $6500 for it, it a was 96 SE fully loaded, 5spd, heated leather, bose etc... 156k. It also had 2 TV screens, a vcr, and a dvd player + system (it was a repo and came with all the stuff!) which was added to the payoff. The "totalling factor" was the rear quarter panel, the maxima is a unibody and to fix it, I guess you have to take the frame off of the car, this is what I was told. My friends uncle has a body shop, and he said it would be easily $4500 as a favor. SO if the frame is bent and the quarter panel is all messed up, u might have a total loss. It was still fully driveable too, which was a lot of fun after lol
dude... I love maximas, I don't know what answer you'd like but if anything involves getting a manual I hope thats what happens for ya. sorry for the accident but I'm glad that idiot in the ES300 p.o.s. got his mwahaha!

that`s actually a 04 ES330. i dunno how he end up with a completely **** up front end. i guess he might have hit the brake at the last monutes and "dive" underneth.

I mean i love this car and all coz i boguth it off a yound lady who bought it brand new and took good care of it. it looks brand spraking new when I saw it the first time.

I tell you I never want to be in an accident ever again. In the case of my previous car, I was not happy but happy not that I am in my Maxima. In terms of total losses unless your ride looks like this

then your car is repairable, sorry to bust your bubble or potential hopes. Glad to see you are doing well too.

picture #46 is scary to say the least. Glad to see you made it out of that one OK. For the OP, with impact at ~40mph, your car took it pretty well, you got lucky!
man looks llike the civic got t-boned twice, once on each side : X
I said it might be a total lost only because of the crooked quarter panel. i use to work in a car rental and seen all kind of accident. once a while with damages like mine, even on a brand new car could cause a total loss case.

The pictures don't look that bad. Glad nobody was seriously hurt. All depending how the unibody's structure is, and the rear end. The trunk and all the body damage should be easy for a true body repair shop. I'm guessing with no serious structure damage $3,500-$4,500. Good Luck with everything.

It's always surprising to see a rear-end collision. The damage to the rear of the car in front is never remotely as severe as the front-end damage to the car behind it -- especially now, with the crazy crumple zones on modern cars.
As for the potential for the car being totaled... If you're talking about boosting or doing anything seriously performance-related, forget this car. If you can, fix it and ditch it. Our frames are soft as they are. The last thing you want is a kink or weak spot when you're putting a lot of power down.

Man... living in Houston, I fear every day that's gonna happen to me... people around here are fcuktards (and they're all in a big freakin hurry)...
That guy must have gone up under you. There is almost no damage for a 40mph impact.

$3800 was what I paid to fix similar rear end damage to my wife's 95 ($500 for the rear spoiler alone).
Well, we didn't pay that much (insurance and all that) but that was the quote.
Also, rear-end collisions suck for back/neck injuries. I got rear-ended about 10 years ago and because I was 22 and felt invincible, I never went to the doctor. I have chronic back pain now and wish I'd tried to have something done about it at the time. So do yourself a favor and have your doc check you out.
Cheers.

I felt fine right after the accident but now my back and both side of my neck start hurting. it hurts evrn more when i tilt my head backward
I already went to a doctor and found a law office so hopefully my 5 speed swap will be free(if the cars fixable).

Get thee to a chiropractor then. I speak from experience, and you don't want to have the problems I'm having at 30ish. I swear that sometimes my back feels 80.
