vented or non-vented gas cap

vented or non-vented gas cap

i lost mine what type am i suppose to get? Anyone know?

If you get a vented gas cap it will set off you CEL. Maximas hav a sealed system

I don't think there is such a thing as a 'vented' gas cap for the Max. Isn't there a special evap canister and so forth to do with that? I'd just go to the dealer and get one.

Original equipment.

The caps have special pressurized valves.

fwiw - vented caps are usually used on cars without a charcoal canister

the gas tank is sealed, if there is no pressure in the gas tank for a while the CEL will come on......that happened to me on my brothers CRv and it the same on the max.....

go to the junkyard dont throw your money away at the dealership when a yard can give you the same thing also is the maxima cap sealed or vented?

dont go to a junkyard, just go to the dealer i paid around $7.00. its an inexpensive oe part and not worth going to a junkyard or auto parts store

Yeah, Oddball86, these guys are right, just get the cap from Nissan if your neighbor in MN doesn't have one. If you know the parts guy at the dealer well enough, he may just give it to ya...connections are good.
