So I went to the Junkyard today...decided i would get a spare.....

So I left work early to head to a junkyard to get some switches for my heated seats then I stumbled on this bad boy. So i had to get it. Its always good to have a spare.

Compared to the tranny that came out of my 1999

The strange thing is neither my I30 tranny that is installed in my car currently or the tranny that came out of my car have VIN tags. I knew the
I30t tranny I installed last year was purchased new for the car. so maybe that is why there was no vin but my 1999 tranny that came out of the car had also had no VIN tag so i assume it must have been replaced at some poin in time?
my 1999 tranny that was pulled last year

Thanks man. Really appreciate that.
There were 3 other I30t's i counted when i was there and the guy said there were alot more on the hill. A 99 grey on grey leather. really nice combo but side impact air bags and they were deployed so the interior was no good. Everything else with good interiors were stripped since they sell the complete interiors for like $550 which isn't bad. there were a whole bunch of tan interior I30's and a few with black but like i said the interior was gone. I am going to go back for a trunk mat i saw from an I30t. it was a bit wet so i pulled it out and layed it on the hood of a car so hopefully it will dry. The only other thing i will get if i run into is heated seat switches, leather ebrake handles, chrome door handles, I30 electric gas door release.

WHAT!?!?!?! Dude that's awesome! How much did they hit you for that? I thought I struck gold when I found a 5-speed i30t at a junkyard around here, then I saw the empty engine bay but I still thought it was like 1 in a million chance that I got the 5-speed wood trim for $10 I'm gonna grab one of those vlsd's! My tranny was suspect when I was inside it, those outer races shouldn't have been spinning like that. Dry dif. seal I noticed! very nice man. Thanks for telling us where it is! did they still have the headlights and taillights on that '99? screw it, I don't even care, I'm going there tomorrow for a muffler and a tan e-brake boot. I'm so happy right now, you made my night! thanks for linking that in my thread!

We should throw a little meet this weekend, even though my car might still be in dispicable shape with the chatter and no exhaust and all.

I never saw the car my tranny came out off. I do know it had black interior so you wouldn't be able to get the boot. Give me a call maybe we can both head down there saturday.

I have that muffler and still have my oem b pipe....if you guys have a meet. I started a thread in the NE forum/regional about a meet mid late april even sooner if anyone is interested. There is a junkyard in Berkley that has atleast 5 or 6 4th gens and 2 or 3 I30s last time I was there, they have my exact car wrecked, very handy until it gets crushed or something.

I have always been lucky there but they move stuff in and out fast. I got my Leather ebrake handle,I30 headrest,Auto dimming rear view mirror and a buch of other stuff there over the last year. I love going there because they aren't on car-part and the guys make up there own prices.

I will look around for another set of switches.

I wouldn't make that generalization. With wrecking yards, it is all about being in the right place at the right time. Most of the stuff, you will not find online and some of the u-pull-it yards that I have been to are not even inventoried.

I pulled 2 ecus out of 5-speed maximas at Dom's in Courtice about a year and a half ago. The cars were both still there last summer when I was there scrounging around.

`
Yeah another thing too that i have seen personally is if a car isn't making them money they will get it out of the yard as quickly as possible. Why would you have something like an I30 sitting for a year taking a spot when no one is getting any parts from it. They crush it and get something else in. I have been to a yard and within a week the car was gone.

offtopic but how is your engine swap comming eng?
