Car idle 600-650 rpm on "D" position is it fine?
Car idle 600-650 rpm on "D" position is it fine?
I feel like it's shaking a little but nothing really major. Can i add rpms using a little screw where is throtlle thing balks(where is cable conected sorry don't know how it calls) .
Edit: +1 3d_man, ya beat me and have a picture. all I have to offer is words. =[
Sorry, no pictures here, and I dont wanna pull mine out, ill try to describe it though.
from the front of the car, standing in front of the radiator. look at your throttle body. right behind that is 4 plugs all different colors (pink, purple, brown & gray) Now look at the metal peice those are attached to, there are 3 bolts hold it in, two on top, 1 on the bottom side.
after you follow the instructions of the guide, that metal peice will come out. Now focus on the metal peice. turn it over and look at the side that came out. You'll see a brass bowl-ish lookin thing screwed down by 3 screws. take this off and clean the area with throttle body cleaner. Some people put the bowl back on, some people leave it off, your choice.
BE CAREFULwhen you go to unscrew those 3 screws that hold down the brass bowl...mine were VERY tight, and I ended up stripping the top of the first screw. Im still waiting to get to a freinds house to fix that.
If this happens do you, dont worry. you see those two openings on the brass thing? spray a few sprays Throttle Body cleaner in there, and use q-tips(cotton swabs) to clean around in there. do this over and over until the swabs stop coming out covered in **** and the black has turned to a somewhat dark-grayish color.
That should help.
Do you have the "guide" I referred to?

The screw should help, Im not running a IACV at ALL, if you turn the screw very little I can -/+ the idle by 30rpms according to my VAFC-II...
So the screw is accurate.
I dont recommend you do it though because thats not meant for you to fiddle with...

Theres a procedure to change your idle in the howtos somewhere thats the proper way you guys should be doing it.

I had no idea. I guess the only thing Im still wondering about is, if I can run the car with out it, what did nissan put it there for? I mean, theres usually a reason behind it right?
Yes you can run the car just fine without the IACV(I have been for months), but theres a disadvantage to it, the IACV serves the purpose to...
1) Keep your car idling(duh)
2) It will raise the idle when you turn on accessorys that drive more load..
so without it, the car's rpm will get low in drive, with teh lights on, and the a/c on the idle can get too low for a smooth idle and cause vibrations...
Im only running without an IACV because I changed to the 00VI manifold and dont have the adapter plate to re-install my IACV.

there are two plugs who contantly try to balance out your plastic screw aperture and others air intakes stuff. what you have to do (stickies) is unplug the two TPS plugs, which will eliminate the auto ajusting system. When you start your car again, you will have your true rpm levels.... NOW you go ahead anf ajust the plastic screw to 650rpms.... once you have the right rpms turn the car off. plug the connectors back in place and reset ECU (codes will pop out when you remove the TPS plugs) now stat your car again, and you will have perfect 650rpms
in simple: <-- oh yeah warm the car first
car off,
unplug TPS plugs (2),
turn car on,
ajust screw till 650rpms,
turn car off,
plug TPS back in
Reset ECU
turn car on

But if I ever factor out what she wants, and get a little selfish, ill def test it out and see how the car reacts. Thanks.
there is a screw on the IAVC that controls the idle. Unplug the tps when car is off, warm. Then turn on and move the screw til it set right, Turn car off rehook up tps and hope it stays where you set it.
