Removing Pin-Striping?

What do you guys think? Take a look at my sig or my site. I have some small spots towards the rear drivers side where the pin-stripe is coming off. Figured I'd put a poll about taking them off or fixing the stripe. Thanks!

I personally don't like pin striping. I think my car looks cleaner without it.

you guys think pin striping is bad? My black maxima came with pink ones!!! They came off over spring break. Had to buff the crap out of where they were, you could still see the lines where the paint wasnt faded.

I'd say remove it. I plan on doing the same pretty soon. And I don't mean to hijack your thread but for those of you who have removed the pinstriping on the car has the difference in the paint under it been a big change from the rest of the car?

On my 96, there was a major difference. It even looks like the part where the pin striping was, is lower than the rest of the paint. Like I said, it took multiple polishing/buffings to get it not as noticeable. Debadging the trunk is just as bad.

My car when I bought it came with this ugly red pin strip which I immediately proceeded to rip off. Its up to you if you want to remove it, just keep the look consistent. If its coming off anyway might as well take the rest off.

If it's painted pin stripe remove it with a product called Goof Off. Then use a little cleaner wax and you will never know it was there.

PS Black cars should have a thin red pinstripe.

Your car would look much cleaner with out the lines. I think the lines tend to interupt the flow of the body. Just my $.02.....

I like pinstripes, what can I say. We gotta admit, our 4th gen Maximas don't have much "flow." We drive boxy cars. A pinstripe breaks up the vertical plane and emphasizes the longitudinal plane. I have put pinstripes on a former car (a Dodge Intrepid) that looked really good. I made them blend with the headlights and rear trunk lid. Just tonight I saw a white Max that looked just like mine, but with pinstripes, and I think they really added to the look of the car. Putting them on is a pain, though, based on every other vote here, I doubt you'll do it. In case you do, put electrical tape just above or below where you want the stripes to be. With electrical tape, you can easily reposition it until you get it just right. Then, align the stripes above or below the tape and remove the tape. Perfect.

I was about to try the Goof Off, but the label says it may damage some automotive paints. Can anyone confirm this is safe to use on our cars? Thanks.

I used this stuff called "Oops". No problems here. Using a Hair dryer or a heat gun makes it super easy. 30 min job.

yes cause the deciding factor amongst most women on whether or not to get in is due to a pinstripe.

If the car is a darker color it can be quite faded, even with the stripe properly removed it'll show in the paint.
