i just drove 65 miles city driving, and my gas gauge only dropped from above the full mark to the full mark. is this uncommon? it seems weird to me. i dunno.

Mine has done it for the last 4 years and 10 months..... Or rather as long as I've had it.

Every car I've owned has done this, minus my VW Scirocco which couldn't hold gas in the tank long enough for that to happen.

I'm pretty sure it's normal.

Are we seeing a pattern here?

Had the same thing on a half dozen cars I've owned.
It's not linear at the top end.. or matter of fact throughout the
whole guage. The bottom half for me always goes quicker than top

I think its because the gauages are needles and not digital so it doesn't have an exact reading for the amount of gas. I notice that when I fill all the way up, it goes past the F indicator and I put around 60 miles before it falls below. Same reasoning behind the E indicater, i figure.

yea the gauge is retarded, when im at a quarter tank it goes up and down slightly and slowly. Really weird and sometimes bothers me cause I dont know when im running out of gas.

I figure on approximately 100 miles/tick mark -- a little more at the top, a little less at the bottom (i.e.: full=0 miles, 3/4=120 miles, 1/2=210 miles, 3/4=300 miles, empty=just under 400 miles). It usually doesn't get below the F until 50-80 miles.
