Don't imagine this is just a trans-for-trans swap. You will need a flywheel, clutch, throwout bearing, pilot bearing, clutch pedal, clutch hydraulics, brake pedal, shifter, etc. etc.

If you are absolutely in love with the idea of converting to 5-speed, look for a wrecked car (an organ donor) that you can buy for low money. That way you get everything you need in one package.

The best course of action is to find a clean 5-speed, buy it, and sell your present car. Who knows, you might even find a guy who is willing to trade because he just got married, his wife can't drive a stick, etc. etc.

if you convert from auto to 5 speed, will you have problems with the car or anything like that, or would it operate normally ?

What do you mean by the phrase "or anything like that"?

if you want to change it for speed purposes save your 3G's.. buy a stillen supercharger by vortech.. then just shift for Gear 1 to Gear 2 to Gear D... by that time you are already doing at least 50.. or 60.. you have all the shifting you'll need and you can see all those 5spd max's in your rear view..

cRed-if your tranny is properly installed, you should have no problems. It will depend on who installs it. There have been times where it all goes perfect and other where it goes right to hell.

As far as S/Cin a auto, an auto S/C w/ exhaust will only run a 14.7 or so in a q-mile. The sad thing is, a 5 speed with mods can hang with you or take you. Sprnt ran a 14.7 w/ only a CAi & Y-pipe. That is why i went w/ NOS.

Jason-you wanna let your front lip go and not the whole kit?

Gotta agree with Synki. BTW, at sixty, you are still in second in an automatic. 1st-->35 2nd--->80 3rd--->115 4th--->top end.

The 14.7 I saw was the highest I've ever seen a S/C'd max go, and I believe it was stated there was no tuning done on it. I was pretty sure that some people out there had 13.5 and under max's that were auto. Any of you S/C'd autoer's wanna redeem the car here? I don't know for sure

I ran a 14/7 in my car. OgreDave has an auto S/C and his car is SIGNIFICANTLY faster than mine. I wouldn't be suprised if his car runs 14.2-14.5 (that's what it feels like).

Easy Brian, just put a supercharger on your car too. And you'll be A LOT faster than OrgeDave. Yes, it's one of them 5spd. vs. auto thing again. Supercharger is just way out of my price range, so I think I have to go with the laughing gas.
