Of these three options for tires/wheels what would be best?

I'm looking at some Falken Hanabi Wheels... I was originally considering the 17x7.5" with 225/45/17 Pirelli PZero Nero MS wheels. Bundled price was about $969. I checked out the 18" sizes of the Hanabis and they're just a few pound or so heavier but still around stock weight... and the price isn't that much more expensive.

Option #1:
Falken Wheel Hanabi (anodized Bronze)
17x7.5 - ET 42 - 16.94lbs
Pirelli Pzero Nero Ms
225/45R17 - 25lbs
Combined Weight - 42lbs
Price - $969 + Shipping

Options #2:
Falken Wheel Hanabi (anodized Bronze)
18x8.5 - ET 38 - 20lbs
Pirelli Pzero Nero Ms
235/40R18 - 25lbs
Combined Weight - 45lbs
Price - $1099 + Shipping

Options #3:
Falken Wheel Hanabi (anodized Bronze)
18x7.5 - ET 45 - 19lbs
Pirelli Pzero Nero Ms
235/40R18 - 25lbs
Combined Weight - 44lbs
Price - $1099 + Shipping

Stock:
Maxima SE Wheels
16x6.5 - 19.6lbs (Wheelweights.net)
Goodyear Eagle RS-A
215/55/HR16 - 24lbs (Tirerack.com)
Combined Weight - 43.6lbs

I've been driving on some '86 300ZX Turbo wheels (16x7) with 225/50/16 tires and like how it handles and would like to at least keep the tread width, or go a step wider.

Thoughts? I mostly drive her on the street, but spiritedly... not really super concerned with acceleration (I understand a slight weight increase will slow the car down, but I've had 19" Mille Miglia wheels on it before, which were lead weights by comparison!).

#2 but with a much wider tire, why get an 8.5" wide rim if you're just going to put a 235 tire on it, I say at least go 255.

After I get them, or for this initial question? They're all the same wheels, so its not like I'm comparing different models, just tire sizes... but anyway, in case you were just asking for what they looked like...

A few shots I found on eBay...

My only problem with that is... when I bought my Maxima, it had stock wheels [16x6.5] with 225/50/16 tires... and it was SPOUNGY as crap... Maxima wiggled all over the highway... I hated it. Basically the tires were a little too wide for the wheels. Once I switched to 16x7.5 wheels the spounginess went away. I don't have it with the 16x7 wheels I have now either... car drives and corners very solid. So I don't want to go too wide for fear the spounginess might come back... Widest I would possibly go would be 245 on a 8.5" wheel... but thats just me.

I'm running 245/45s on my 17x8s and it doesn't feel bad at all, grips like crazy too.

I'd go with the 17" Falkens.

those are some ugly looking rims in my opinion. theres so many other rims you can get on ebay for the same price or less.

get 18"'s no matter what you get... i had some 17"'s and everyone thought they were way too small for the maxima's.

Problem with most of the rims on eBay is they're made cheap, so they can be sold cheap, and they tend to weigh a good bit... they're not built with less weight in mind... but I have checked a few of them out...

But opinions are like a55holes, everyone has one... I wasn't asking whether I should buy that model of wheel or not, the question was sizing; of the wheel and the tires... but thanks for the comments anyway.

I thought about getting these rims a few months back. I like them. IMO its a larger version of the sawblades haha.

I'd say Option #2 as well, and I must agree Akumachan get 255s, not 235s.

Ok, for all of you preaching for the 255s... with a 38mm offset, and 18x8.5" wheels, will the 255s fit with no clearance issues on an H&R drop? Edgeracing only guarantees fitment with the 235s... I'm inclined to go with the 245s, but I'm a bit weary to step all the way up to a 255... =/

Thoughts?

i was running some dunlop sp 9000's with the stock rims.
tho the tire was differnt
225/50/16
which was wider tire with less sidewall - thumbs up! tho the dunlops wore out to fast.

i would recomend for autocross to get less sidewall - so go with a larger rim.

for dragging or straitline performance to stay with the smaller rim sizes' just get new tires ie something wider with less sidewall.

tho less sidewall will change your speed limit if im not mitstaken.

i like those rims above and they dont weigh that much either, definatly nice on an skyline, err i think mabe its a silvia?

i think im going for 17 mabe 18 at the most, dunno how thick im going to get the rims, not enough money to think about it yet.

why choose the tires you picked? i havent heard their that great (compaired to others at less price (of course i could be wrong)).

255 is way to big, and with that offset you'll be sticking out a bit, well camber from the drop should help. I ran 225s on my 8 inch wheels and i thought about stepping to 235s max.

I need an All Season tire... this is my daily, and a family car... I've had Sumitomo HTR+ tires in the past and loved those (UHPAS as well), but Edge doesn't sell them. The Pirellis were actually rated as the #2 UHPAS tire on Tirerack.com.

Customer Survey Results for UHPAS - Tirerack.com
# 1 - 100% - Avon Tech M550 A/S
# 2 - 97% - Pirelli PZero Nero M&S
# 3 - 96% - Continental ContiExtremeContact
# 4 - 96% - Michelin Pilot Sport A/S
# 5 - 93% - Kumho ECSTA ASX
# 6 - 89% - Dunlop SP Sport 5000 Asymmetrical
# 7 - 88% - Michelin Pilot XGT Z4
# 8 - 86% - Yokohama AVS dB S2
# 9 - 86% - Sumitomo HTR+
#10 - 85% - Dunlop SP Sport 5000 Symmetrical
#11 - 85% - BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDWS
#12 - 79% - Michelin Pilot XGT V4
#13 - 78% - Dunlop SP Sport 5000A DSST
#14 - 76% - Dunlop SP Sport 5000 M
#15 - 69% - Dunlop SP Sport 4000 A/S
#16 - 59% - Michelin XGT V4

So... that's why I'm considering that specific tire. Where I am in VA, we don't get much snow, more ice, but we do get a good deal of rain, and to be honest our roads around here suck (highways are prone to hydroplaning). So I need a good All-Season tire. I drive 20 miles each way to work, about 95% of it highway at 70-80mph, and I don't like to hydroplane... If EdgeRacing sold the Sumitomo HTR+, I'd buy that due to previous experience.

Thanks for offering, but I didn't ask for opinions on the wheels, I asked for opinions on the package sizing...

i wouldnt follow those reviews on tire rack. i bought nemerous tires based on the reviews there. some are straight on and some arnt. then you have a good wheel one month and then it goes DOWN the next few months.

the people who make the reviews dont know anything, and you dont know their whole picture, like wheel size, hp, tiresize, driving styles, etc.

alot of those people think they know stuff but they dont - you know those people, and some of those people dont know anything to begin with.

alot of people dont even put good milage on the car. some of the tires dont even have alot of milage total racked up to gauge it based on the other tires.

all im saying is dont use that as your only source. those tires arnt all that bad, just get the best size for your rim and you should be good, but do more reasearch so you dont do what i did, and base my decission on the number one and two tires at tire rack based on customer spew.

Naw, I checked out a lot more places than just TR... and in actuality, I went ahead and ordered the 18s (18x8.5") w/ 245s... with the Pirellis... but I ordered Sunday over the weekend, and now they're outta stock and on a month back order... =( So I switched over to the Toyo Proxes 4 tires... did a bit of reading on them when they told me the Neros were out and they looked pretty good... possibly a little better than the Neros... but we'll see. I'll report back later.
