stereo/dash removal on a '96

I can't search yet for some reason, so I had to post.

What is the process for removing the dash parts to get to the radio on a '96? That is all. Thanks.

You'll need a flat screwdriver and a phillips.

Use the flat screwdriver to pry under the upper vent piece and pull the whole thing out straight. unplug the defrost and hazard buttons.
That gives you access to the two screws holding the upper radio/ac control brackets.
Now take the flat screwdriver and pry up the plastic trim around the shifter.
- you may need to move the shifter to D to make room to remove the trim
- Make sure you're stepping on the brake
- unplug the cigarette lighter
To the left of the ash tray assembly is one screw to remove
Now you have access to the two screws holding the lower part of the brackets.
You should now be able to pull the whole center radio/ac unit out.
-unplug the radio and ac units

You'll need to remove the screws holding the support brackets to the radio.
They can be really tight. Make sure you have a good medium phillips screwdriver. Put the whole unit on its side on the floor and put your whole weight into it as you turn.

+1 after you do this enough, it should take you less than 5 minutes
