Maxima Broke down, need help/advice

well heres what happend. about a week and a half ago, my car started leaking coolant so i took it to a shop and had the water pump and timing chain tensioners replaced, along with both my front axles. this was done in san diego. the next day i pick up my car and its running great, so i drive back to arizona. well about 70 miles from my house i come to a stop sign and stop. then i start to accelerate from the stop and i hear this clunk noise and then the engine just revves. so i push the car to the gas station and get it towed home the next day. the car turns on and the engine runs fine, but if you try to put it in gear it makes alot of noise. you can also push the car in park . any suggestions what i should do? It's a 1995 about to hit 180,000 miles. the previous owner said it was a new transmission, but i don't have any receipts so im not sure. if it needs a new transmission how much do you think itd cost. ps its an auto. thanks for any help.

If you start the car and put it in drive will the car move forward or just free rev?

Could be a transimission problem, maybe something wasnt re-installed correctly.

or just snapped. Badly rebuilt axles could have been used.
