Door Courtesy Lights --> Electrical problem???

Ive read about this problem awhile back and dont remember what the solution was...anyway my door courtesy lights do not work as of today my passenger side went out i bought a brand new bulb and it still does not work. The drivers side never worked and now i want to fix them both ... I did some searching and read something about resetting the BCM but it didnt go into too much detail ...? Did anyone ever have this problem and solve it??? BTW all other bulbs work and all fuses are fine...??? TIA

Two places to check first. Change out either the BCM, which is located behind the CD Player. Or the window switch unit on that side.

I was told that you have to replace the window switch on the corresponding side of the non working bulb. I have the same issue but I haven't attempted to fix it yet. They sell them on ebay for pretty cheap.

This is what i found out about BCM.....
the BCM is "Body Control Module"... The BCM is located behind/below the radio you must remove radio and ash tray to get to it... how could the bcm affect the door courtesy lights do i have to reset it or something....anyone try the window switch replacement????TIA

The BCM can get fried is the wrong wires are crossed. But, that would be the one you need to replace. You can't miss it once you remove your radio. You could try getting new window seitches first. That would most likely be an easier fix.

I bought the door switch (little black button that presses in when the door is closed) and it fixed my passenger side courtesy light. It was cheap, like $6-7.

If the window switches are bad, do the window controls still work? My windows work, everything works except the door lights. I'm gonna cross-post my problem in case any of you guys have any ideas:

I encountered a major problem while installing Metal Maxima's door light LEDs. Since I'm a n00b with electric stuff and the instructions left out an apparently very important step—disconnecting the battery before you snip the OEM wires for the door lights—I didn't think twice and snipped and now my door-light wires appear to have no current. I think I shorted something. I don't see any blown fuses (at least not the likely ones like "Interior Lamps") and the dome light and everything else still works. I don't know what to do.

The window will still operate correctly. The lighting part of the switch just broke. Swap out a new switch and it will work. But first, connect the new super bright light you got...

OK, that's what I figured but I wanted to make sure. One last question: both door lights worked before but now both don't work, even the side that I didn't short anything on. I shorted the driver side. Do you think I need both driver and passenger side window units or just the driver side?

I would connect the LED assembly right now but I don't know which wire is which, so I'm just going to tape up the bare ends of the wires with electrical tape and when I get my new window switch I will be sure to not let the wires touch while I'm figuring out which is which, and then disconnect the battery while I install them for good.

BTW love your sig tag line!

led turn

I know that LED's have always given me headaches. I tried to hookup some led turn signals, came with a resistor to splice into wire to raise the load or else they would blink real fast, indicating an open or rather a blown bulb. didnt work of course, didnt blink at all with or without the gimmic resistor. Anybody had the idea of putting j30 projector headlights into a 4th gen max. I know a little body molding would have to be done, but i wonder if it will fit, smaller is okay. just asking.?????
