Stone Mountain Racing headers

Has anyone heard of these? They're on eBay for a ridiculously low price. My initial reaction is that they are of low quality but they have a dyno sheet and many pics to prove otherwise. Anyone had any experience with these?

Heres a link http://cgi.ebay.ca/Nissan-Maxima-V6-...QQcmdZViewItem

Not bad, considering you also get a Y-Pipe.

stone racing headers do not fit perfectly and the gains are shown stock vs headers+ypipe. there's almost no gains but louder sound from those headers.... and the graphs show mostly the gains comming from the ypipe... there's a thread about this couple of years ago when it first came out and they had people test it out.

I have these on my car there were no fitment issue. It's about the same price as a Y-pipe alone. They look nice and my exhaust is a little louder. I dropped .4 off my 1/4 mile time with them.

i dont see how they are a waste of money...for the price of a y-pipe alone u get a y-pipe and headers even if they are only for show. many people have installed them and havent had issue so maybe all the negatives arent warrented for their low price.

if they cost more then can understand why it has bad press. also many peoplethat have bought budget/wps/etc have had issues as well. for its price i guess u cant do worse

This is the same Design as the SS-AutoChrome Headers and Y-pipe Setup correct ??

Ill be ordering just the headers on monday to match up with my Warpspeed 3" y-pipe and my new motor...No point to be putting my stock headers back on the car.

Without the motor in the car, this is a HUGE job. If your looking for a good header/Y-pipe setup thats worth the installation, look into the Cattmans for $850.

I'm trying to understand how many people claim these headers are crap judging form its design or by its price when actually nobody have ever done a real dyno comparison between the different designs available just because just one person say its not worth it then everybody take it for granted

why is even harder to understand is why not even the most popular header manufacturer here on the org haven't don't any real or as close to real as possible comparison between them all

in my particular opinion based on its desing i think it may give you some gains, i really don't like the y-pipe section but i think you can buy just the headers and mate it to a proven y-pipe available all this for less than $500 still much cheap then the "top seller"

for a lot of people this have a lot of sense because
1-price
2-looks(chrome)
3-sound(i'm guessing here)
4-possible gain from just headers

i don't get me wrong i'm not saying they are good or they aren't i just saying that in order for me to comment on some particular item i need to have proof or must be able to provide evidence to support that

i compare this to the 3.5 swap and the 00vi
how many times we heard that question before anybody done it how many people got roasted just for asking if it was psosible and as many of us know now its very popular mod for our cars

They are not much different from the stock manifold, so they dont make much of an increase in power. There are dynos which prove them to be useless. The install takes hours for nothing. The best headers for the money are the newer OBX headers, at least they have longer primaries. Problem with all these cheap setups is the unequal y pipe, which sound like a crappy ponitac. Cattmans are the only ones worth installing. They are equal length, beautifully designed, and fit 100%.

i never seen a good dyno showing they are not worth it,like dyno runs on same car with same mods, same dyno under same conditions thats how you do a real comparision and if i were the one selling them i be the first to do it

I have these on my car. I installed them myself with no fitment issues. I'm very happy with them. I noticed a big difference in my lower end after I put it on. The flow was wayyyy better with the headers and the y-pipe. The price is unbeatable and the quality is good too. I checked out all the welds and joints before putting them on and everything looked good. I've had them for a few months and no problems. I would tell you to get them.

* of course putting the headers on with the engine in the car it took the better part of 8 to 10 hours if i remember correctly. The front header went on no problem but the rear header took forevvveeeerrrrrrrr...... I had to take off the upper intake so I could reach my arm down there, then I had to take off the heat shield which took forever because it kept getting stuck. I almost took a cutting torch to it. Once I finally got that out the stock manifold took a while to get out due to how the bolts are in. You have to get two from the bottom and the rest you can get from the top. I actually took out the heat shield with the manifold because the heat shield wouldn't come off. Keep in mind I was working in a dealership garage and had all the right air tools, lifts, etc.

The stock manifolds are short and honestly now after doing it I doubt there was much gain from putting them on. You're going to most of your gain from the y-pipe just by getting the pre-cats off of there and having both banks flowing down the same way.

- my two and a half cents

Why didn't you just break the bolts off by tightening them instead of loosening them.

Please don't say they are the "Best bang for the buck". Most people would agree the re-designed OBX's are. Look at the header sticky in all-motor.

I have the SS's on my 95 and I decided to put it in along with a Cattman catback at the same time. That was a lot of work, from what my mechanic told me, they had to do quite a bit of bending and attemps to twist some of the pipe (from the y-pipe itself) to get it to link with with the Cattman pipe, and not too sure if it was a mistake on Cattman's part (most likely I think it was the SS), but once everything was installed, there was about a foot long gap that had to have a pipe welded on finally for everything to connect. Maybe it's just me and I was an idiot that left a pipe somewhere.

But as for gains, there's definitely a pickup over all, nothing DRASTIC, the Cattman sounds nice though, not very loud but different from stock, that's for sure. I'd say go elsewhere on the headers/y-pipe just for fitment issues (and hopefully I don't find out something is wrong later down the line), if not just spend the money and get a good Y-pipe. I think if the headers do give you a gain at all, it's probably very very minimal, but that's my amateur opinion.
