Classic Problem - New Twist

So the classic problem is that my airbag light is flashing. This has happened a few times since I've owned the car. Normally I do the trick about pushing the door button 7 times rapidly with the key in the 'on' position. This has always taken care of it..

Yesteday though the light went on for no apparent reason and now when I reset it it doesn't shut off. The first time I do the trick it goes into that flashing mode where it isn't just repeated, it's like intermittent with a mix of long and short flashes.

Is there anything else I can check or do? I know I used to do the trick and then turn the key off right away and that would sometimes do it, but right now I'm getting nothing

There is an apparent very good reason that light is now on.

The mix of short and long flashes is the error code for what has failed on your SRS system.

Have the car's SRS system serviced by a qualified SRS service tech.

Hint: Bring it to your local Nissan dealer.

How did you end up taking care of it?

Yeah it was tricky, and I'm not 100% sure what it was. But I got under both the driver and the passenger seat and sortof jiggled all the wires, then made sure they were connected tightly at the ends. There's about 4 connections under each seat. Some do the motors, some do the airbags.

After that I did the usual reset, which you have to do twice, becasue the first time it goes into diagnostic mode. The key though for me was quickly turning the enigine off as soon as the airbag light goes off (after the 7-10 seconds or whatever)

After that I let it chill for a bit then started it up and no problem.

Hope it works for you
