350Z rims?

A good friend of mine just crashed his Z31 which had 350 rims on it. He "made me an offer i cant refuse". I put them on yesterday, and they seemed to make my car feel significantly slower...especially of the line. The rims are obviously heavier, but i didnt think to the extent that would make my max noticably slower. Has anyone else noticed this with their 350 rims, or am i just crazy. Secondly, the rims seemed to be a bit big, i put the rear 235s in the front, and idk they just seemed to be big. but that could be caus i'm use to my stock sawblades. Thanx guys..much appreciated

i just got a set of these and my car feels the same and looks 100x better than it did with the honeycombs. if anything it handles better. just curious, why did you put the rears in the front? i put the 225s in the front and 235s in the rear, drives great. try reversing it and see if you hve different results.

those boat anchors will definately slow your car down, esp if they're 18" non forged models and you are automatic. Also if they looks big, it may be because of the offset. they probably stick out the front fender, which doesnt look too good..

Both he and I have done it because the rear tires don't really do anything on our cars. Put the wider rubber where it counts.

They do look damn nice, I saw one at Albertsons yesterday and it made me jealous. But I dunno if it's worth sacrificing looks for power and gas mileage.

I have two different types of 350Z rims for my Max. You can see pics here:

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=469819

With the 5-spokes on the car it handles great & I have not lost any performance. The six spoke handle & look great but........they feel like friggin boat anchors. I'm still trying to figure out why you have the larger tires up front.

because a normal staggered setup doesn't do anything for a fwd car. the plusses to having to wider tires in front are 1. help induce oversteer, giving the car a more aggressive feel-- not saying it will all of a sudden turn into a porsche or something, but it helps... and 2. wider rubber on the drive wheels = more traction.

the downside is... it looks a little retarded. but function is what really matters, right? if i had staggered rims/tires i would install them "backwards," too.

If you continue to rotate yor tires you will have them up front every few thousand miles or so.

Yea.... My car is much slower with my Z rims. And also my alignment and handling have gotten much worse since i have got them. But, it does look better with them on.

what is the exact name of the 5spokes? as seen in the pic below

I'm looking for a set, would look sick on a black Max with D2, and should be able to tuck a zet of 300zx calipers without spacers.

Still cant find it in ebay.

I know there Rays Forged rims, but all combination of words yeild no search results. Surely some ONE has a set or atleast a wheel for sale on ebay.

I think ebay would be the best place for these rims, dealer would rape you, and you'd have to work in a tire shop to come accross these for a decent price.

well I just went to ww.nissanusa.com and apparently these rims are a stock item for the last 2 model specs out of the 5 (the highest most expensive). Anyways thought that may help..

I picked up a set of the 7 spokers from a local dealership at a killer price but had the guy give me all 4 in the 17x8 size. Day and night difference compared to what I was sitting on before but noticed a slight difference in acceleration. The looks make up for it though. Sorry don't have any pics.

Those are indeed 18". But they are NOT Rays forged. To date, these are the only Rays wheels Nissan/Infiniti has.
1) The above which are the newest ones. 06+ Track Editions 18" fronts and massive 19" rears.
2) 19" Coupe wheels. Which I run now on my G35 sedan

3) Z 03+ Track Editions:

All others like the ones on that white maxima, the touring Z 18s:
and the Coupe 18s

are all cast.

Wow . . . well that shoots down those plans.

I like the wheels you had posted at first but 18x9 and 19x10?? I wont be able to fit that without rubbing.

D'ah well.

If those 05/06 18s are paired with the Bridgestone re050s, the combo will probably weigh in close to 60lbs each. Maybe a few lbs less.

Better that I tell you now vs me telling you after you purchase them and wonder why they weigh so much

jeff in a rough math estimate, do you know percent wize how much accel would be lost due to 18" size and the weight of the rim? even a rough estimate.. basically, is it worth it? or should I perhaps stick with 16-17" rims to maintain similiar stock accel. I know it all depends on weights vs. size but I'm just asking a really vague question. thanks budd

how can you ride on those, maybe I'm just a track guy.. But I'm having a tough decision with deciding on going up to really lightweight 17" let alone 18" boat anchors. They sure as hell do look nice though.

They are the 17"s they do seem to definately make the car handle better, but I definately see why people call them boat achors...

They really feel like boat anchors?!?!?! I thought since it came off a sports car like a 350z they would be lighter, thats kinda weird they would make them so heavy...

well I heard that the 18's are lighter than the 17's (the 17's being the lower end rims, but all in all theyre supposedly all pretty heavy.) I think I'm just gonna go 16" SSR anthracite. It just seems to me like you're not quite brdging a gap with 17" rims. Its like go 16" or 18," not in between. I dunno though, perhaps its because I'm highly compulsive.
