My CEL came on and it's showing the same code so I just did the research on it (still have to fix it). EGR is Exhaust Gas Recirculator. It takes some exhaust gas and puts it back into the intake to reduce NO emissions. According to the Haynes manual, it's not that hard to get to and replace, especially if you take the intake manifold out to buy more room. Courtesy Nissan (www.courtesyparts.com) has the valve and gasket for $120. When I inquired at my local dealer about the parts, they said it might not necessarily be the valve because sometimes it's just hat the small hoses involved get crudded up.

Just curious, did a knock sensor code also come up? I've read that often the EGRC will also throw a KS code, but it doesn't necessarily mean the KS is bad. I think I'm going to replace the EGR and KS at the same time while the manifold's off. To me t's worth the $200 in parts to potentially fix it myself in two hours vs. probably $400+ to have the dealer do it. If you get it done before me, I'd like to know how you made out.

there are many emissions parts with similar names so if you do need a new part make sure its the correct one. so many have spend hundreds of dollars only to keep buying other things.

The solenid valve is the green solenoid in the valley of the block. it controls the opening and closing of the egr valve. check that first.

I think when you open the hood on the right side closer to the front of the car there should be a sticker that tells you where your EGRC is and everything it's connected to. I have it so i'd presume you do aswell.
