Broke Valve Cover Bolt HELP!

Just as the title says I broke one of the front valve cover bolts, just torqueing it to spec and snap! So What do I do guys what do you recommend, I'm assuming I can get a new bolt at the dealer but how do I get the old bolt out?

They have drill bits that dig into the broken bolt and pull it out. Check your local autozone. And I sent out your AC compressor, I'll give you the tracking info later.

Where did the bolt break off? if it's just at the top, you could try getting it out with some vice grips.

Its perfectly flush with the metal so vice grips are no use. I have tried a drill bit that is supposed to pull out broken bolts before on another car but it didn't work. Maybe it was just not my lucky time, this is much easier placement and will be easier to work on. Any other suggestions?

And thanks, its getting warm here, time for some nice a/c :-)

Your only chance is an easy out (that special drill bit) if you dont feel comfortable doing it, get someone who does, because if you **** up you will jsut cause more damage.

Remember for next time: Its IN-LB's not FT-LB's

Go to Sears and get a screw extractor. A small one. On that Package it will tell you what size drill bit to get it. Trust me, they work

Its gonna look like this:

Yea be carefull with the IN-LB and Ft-lb nomenclature. I usually look at N-m since its universal. I torqued my valve cover bolts to 20 N-M but they supposed to be 7.5 - 10 N-M. I haven't seen any signs of leakage. Just be carefull.

it's really easy to crack the bolts, and the valve cover itself. i did it on a dsm by accident, but fixed it with some jb weld.
