Easiest way to wire a kill switch????

I had an idea of wiring a switch/button that would have to be activated before the car will start. I was thinking of cutting a power wire, somwhere easy to access (starter/fuel pump,etc.) and wiring a switch in-line with the power wire so when the switch is off, no power. When the switch/button is turned on, the car is back to normal, but without someone finding this switch it would be impossible to start the car. Has anyone done a mod like this to prevent unwanted starts from theifs? If you hide the switch in a good spot, cheap way to keep your car from getting robbed.

just put a switch on a wire leading to the fuel pump :P, no gas, no running engine

done it on one of my cars before...put the switch underneath the brake pedal...had to press it with your toes, and if someone is watching, they dont find the switch

and since the brake pedal wont move all the way to the floor its good

why install a kill switch when you can simply remove your fuel pump fuse to deactivate your car?

who wants to take the fuse out/put it back in every time they get in their car? A switch would be way easier. C'mon, use your head.

damn, thats alot of work..pulling out and putting in a fuse...Must take hours huh?

it is. i do it often.
first u gotta hide it somewhere safe in the car cuz u dont want to lose it. 2nd, its hard to put it back in when its dark.

I was laughing until I realized that VIP might actually do this, I mean I believe anything after the drop he said hes gonna do to his existing suspension. eh, sarcasm>me haha

wire a switch from your starter signal to one of your factory buttons, like the defrost or hazard switch.

that's a good suggestion. I had a friend with a DSM, who wired it to the right turn signal. Had to have the blinker on to start the car. Once the car was running, the blinker worked normally.

How does posting it defeat the purpose?? Doesn't mean I have to tell you where I put the switch/button.

Im gonna seriously laugh when those that take out their fuses get their cars stolen....I wouldnt be suprised if the smarter ones (thiefs) carried fuses in their pockets Did ya think of that? Hahahaha....

when you do the kill switch make sure you splice the correct wire. There's two ways you can do it. One would be to splice the black wire with white strip. That is the main power to the whole car and the switch needs to stay on while the car is on in order to keep the circuit closed. If you accidently turn that switch off while driving than the car will go dead.

The second way is the correct way. You would want to splice the black wire with the red strip. This is after the Inhibitor relay. This setup will allow for the switch to be momentarily on while starting the car. After the car is started the switch can go back off. I would suggest reading up on relays. Almost anything that functions as a switch can be used for this setup or you can place a remote switch somewhere in the car.

A thief that carries fuses???? cmon as soon as it doesn't start they move on to the next car. Thanks speed racer for the great suggestions. I guess someone that actually lives where cars are stolen everyday understands why I want to do this.
