brake sqweaking question

sorry if there are more threads on this, but i just quickly need to know what to fix before tomorrow, as I have access to a 4 hoists. I recently replaced the rear brake pads with raybestos pads, because the old ones were sqweaking when i pull out of the driveway after being parked and when you put on the brakes slightly. since i put these new pads on it still sqweaks, not as much but it still does, and i noticed the rotors get REALLY hot. i just spat on it and my spit like bounced off lol.. so i gave it a tiny spray of water and it started to steam. I didnt spray a lot of water or anything. Anyone know what I need to fix?

thanks
chris

well brakes get much hotter than your oven, even in normal braking. but if your worried they are dragging too much, jack up all four corners, with the car in neutral, and spin each tire, if it is really hard to spin, they are probably dragging and creating excess heat. its normal for them to drag slightly or make a slight sound when turning the wheels. as far as squeaky brakes go, that means jack sht. brakes have squeakers on them that are supposed to make them squeak when your pads are low, but lots of pads will squeak when they are fine, alot also depends on the pad material. also, if you replaced the pads without having the rotors turned or replaced with it, itll take a few thousand miles for the pads to wear into the rotors

Think you meant " four post lift" but CDS rotor will help alot in terms of cooling and reduce brake fade under harsh conditions. The raybestos pads are not the greatest and I have heard many similar complaints about them. I would switch the pads in a few weeks if it doesn't get any better. Also I would repeat the break in process to make sure they aren't glazed after sanding them while off.

alright thanks guys, I have an old set of rotors from my other maxima (i installed 4 stillen cross drilled and slotted rotors) so i am going to use my rotor turning machine to turn the rotors and see if it helps any. I took the pads out again and re-installed them and it helped a quite a bit. Also i did mean 4 hoists. I have access to two 2 post hoists, and two 4 post hoists.
