cant use u joint for ks
cant use u joint for ks
no matter what extension i tried. i cant seem to turn the ujoint to get the ks bolt off.
i used 1/4" 12 u joint, and a 3/8" extension, yet i cant seem to turn the bolt.
how the hell do i turn a u-joint bolt at such an awkward angle?
help!!!
worse case, im gonna have to take off the intake manifold. how much work is that gonna be?

I used a 1/4" U joint with a 1/4" x 12" extension then a 3/8" converter and rachet to get mine off. I remember thinking that I was putting so much pressure on it that the extension was going to twist in two when the bolt suddenly popped loose. Try a 1/4" extension to improve the angle. Did you lube it up first?
i am using a 1/4" u, w/ a 3/8" converter to a 10" extension.
i think the angle is a bit too high on the u joint in order for me to be able to turn.
am i supposed to be using the ratchet to turn, or just push the extension?
when i turn the ratchet, the socket keeps on slipping off the ks bolt

But is your extension 3/8 or 1/4, 1/4 affords the best angle. The socket slipping off is not good. Don't round the shoulders off the bolt. Use a good 6 point socket. Don't push the extension - try to hold it in place while you apply twisting force only.

i finally decided to go one more crack at it w/ the 1/4 ujoint. this time i held the extension upward hitting the v groove on the intake manifold. and woala!!!
finally got it off. took it for a quick test drive after i replaced the ks, and wow, what a difference.
Thanks guys for the advice

i just did mine, i had the u-joint slip off the bolt many times. i am gong to try and explain what i did. i used a long extension, removed the intake box to give me more room. i then put the u-joint on the bolt, and pushed the extension against the intake manifold to give so the extension wouldnt move back and forth causing the u-joint to slip off the bolt.
do u understand what i mean?
EDIT: i guess i should read all the posts before i make a reply, yeah i did exactly what you did 200kmax

well as you can see it was quite painful, and it looked 10 times worse cause of all the bruises but anyways. My little brother wasn't around and I had to use about 6 of those 3-4" extensions (3/8) put together and I still managed it, you have the power its just how far are you willing to go.
