is this bad? i know people reccomend 235/45/17's on 17x8 rims. It's not my decision either, it was on the car when i bought them along with the 17x7" rims with 43mm backspacing.

That's not right, it should be like 215/50/17 I think for 17x7

I'm trying to figure this out myself. The tire shop reccommends 235/45/17 for 17x7 rims on a maxima, but the 5 gen. maximas come w/ 215/40/17's on them. I have some Konig Tantrums on the way here and can't figure out which tires to put on them. I'll probably go w/ the 235/45/17's.

For the 3rd generation Maximas it should be 235/45/17. For the 4th generation Maximas you can use either 235/45/17 or 225/50/17. I'm using 225/50/17 on my 4th generation Maxima that come stock off the 2k Maxes. I really don't recommend anything else because I've had really good experiences with these sizes no matter what tire. Hope this helps!

hmm

245 is wayyy too wide for a 7" rim.. that is the tire size you would put on a 8.5" wide rim.
For a 7", i don't think you should go for anything more then 225, maybe 235 but your sidewall will buldge more... Can you even fit 245s on a 7" wide rim?

I have 225s on a 7" wide rim

Recomended is 225/50-17, you can go to 235/45-17, but most tire manufacturers say that 225 is the max on a 17*7 rim. I have 225/45-17s right now.
