is the new maxima the 2002 a new gen i just thought it had a bigger engien. doesnt it look the same?

Its always meant "sport edition". its gonna be the same gen but with 260hp, and 6spd. Don't think it would be that much different.

I'm not sure about the Max, but SE usually stands for Special Edition

According to the 2001 Maxima brochure SE stands for "Sport Edition". Note the word is Sport, not Sports.

GXE is the base model. There is no "highest" model. The SE has an emphasis on good handling and is positioned as a "driver's car". The GLE has an emphasis on luxury and has a soft ride with all sorts of bells-and-whistles features. The Maxima buyer who wants the best of both worlds can buy the SE and add many of the GLE features as optional extras.
