Well I have my 2000 motor completely stripped down to the block. 8500 miles on it.

Im starting to prep it so today I put in some new oil and some new gapped plugs. I plan on putting this in, in about 2 to 3 weeks once this semester is done and over with but right now Im just waiting for parts.

I decided to turn the crank pulley and just turn the engine a bit. It it normal when I turn the motor that it gets really hard to turn, then eases up, then really hard to turn, then lossens up ?? Im using a 3/8 rachet with a 19mm head it on. Not a big bar, just a little rachet. What I mean by hard is that there is alot of resistance on the Rachet, then it gives way and turnes the rest of the way around...then tight, then loose again and so on and so on.

I just wanna know if its normal

Picture of what were dealing with:

That is normal for an engine with the plugs in it.

its the pressure from the valve springs i think that itl do it without the plugs..

yeah, all that pressure builds in the intake stroke of your 4 stroke cycle. it's hard to overcome that inertia when you first wanna turn it. then it'll get easy as you go because the counterweights are easing it up as you go.

Its just the compression stroke doing its job. If you listen close enough you can hear the compressed air seeping out when the exhaust valve opens up.

Is it also normal to hear a bit of noise coming from the timing chain ?? Figure cause there is no Oil pressure thats probably normal

Yea there is some slack in it until the tensioners get pressure.
