Quick question. I am about to replace the tires on my 96 gxe, which came standard with 15inche 205/65 tires. I would like to put some slightly wider tires on in but not to the point that it looks abnormal. Could I get away with a 215/65 or should I go with a 215/60? Do you recommend a H rated tire or a V for the Max?

Thanks

Hi Kya!

I replaced the stock tires on my 96 GXE with 225/55/16 Toyo Proxes FZ4. The car looks and handles great. The 225 cross-width gives the car a nice stable stance.

Last week I put Kumho Ecsta supras on my 96 GLE. I have 99 SE 16" rims and got 225/50 WR 16's. It looks great and feels even better. I ended up spending $410 total for the tires, shipping, and installation. These tires are real nice for the money. I've used Pirelli, good yr, u name it, I've tried it, and I'm very pleased with the Kumhos. Check out tirerack for best prices...hope this helps

you'll want to go with 60%, not 65% if you're getting wider tires... 60's wont be exactly the same diameter as stock, but much closer than 65's. V is rated up to 130MPH, V up to 149MPH. If you plan on driving your car over 130 (not many people do), then you better get V.
