Removal of the chorme trim

Hey

I heard that it is possible to remove the chorme trim around the doors, so I was just wondering how do I go about doing that, and what is underneath (rubber?)

Thanks

.

i actually attempted it a few days ago b/c for some reason one side has it and one doesnt on my car. underneath it is just "glue" so you'll need something to get that off. i guess after time it gets so stuck that when i pulled it off parts of the actual trim got stuck to the door so u put it back on...

Do you have any pictures of what it looks like with the trim pulled off?

Fanaticrockford was selling the SE black door surrounds before, you need that to replace the chrome trim on the GXE and GLE models. Painting them I have heard does not come out that well, it chips and peels. But I guess if you prep it well and paint it with the right paints, it is possible.

There should be NO glue underneath your trim. Your car has been in an accident, and at least one side was put on by the body shop, incorrectly.

I recently removed my stock chrome trim and replaced it with SE trim, and there are plastic clips which hold it into the door...these clips are very easy to break, and it is also very easy to break the trim it self (I broke both). There are also bolts (8mm IIRC) towards the corners of the doors that you need to remove. You will also need to remove the mirror for the portion around it. I would advise looking at the FSM before attempting this.
