I guess the short ram product looks interesting.. where to mount it on a max though? You can hook it directly up to a hacked stock air box

Injen cold air intake.

Your short ram does nothing but make noise...and you lose on your low end power.

That thing will only make it worse

Ram air does not work and you can just put the filter in the fender if you want cold air.

that box does look kool though. I wonder if anybody can make our stock box look like that.
man i cut a hole for the cold air intake so i can put the filter in the fender and man the car felt slower....... i took that long pipe off and went short ram. I really wanna go back to stock and just drop a k&n in it. I think that will be the best bet performance wise.

Made my own CAI using the same principles as the PR one but w/o its price tag.

Voila!!! My own RAM CAI kit...cool air goes in thru the driverside fog lamp opening. The air filter is isolated away from the engine compartment.

Intake bypass valve coming soon.

geeze u might wanna watch out for puddles, or better yet dont drive in the rain. i know u said ur gettin a bypass but thats still not gonna do any good when that filter is soaked, it wont be able to suck enough air. k&n's are worthless when they are wet. my buddy learned that the hardway when he had one on his quad and it got wet. we couldnt start his at all. what you could do is see if u can get one of them "prefilters" its like a sock type thing that suposidly repels water but doesnt limit airflow. they are popular on quads and motorcycles and things to that nature.

We'll only morons would do such a thing as driving over puddles. Common sense dictates one to avoid puddles, hopefully. Besides, I have a truck for those bad rainy/floody seasons. My maxima will stay parked when that happens.

As for the comment about intakes being a joke:

It's only a joke when you expect it to give you some big unrealistic hp gains. Intakes will never do that...ever... unless its forced induced. No matter what setup you go by, the difference between all of them is miniscule. I've tried many: HAI, stock w/ ported airbox for a cool air setup, then this recent one. I only did this for the looks and sound. However, it turned out that my car is running a lot better with this setup. Maybe its a placebo effect that is why I'm getting it dyno'd this weekend to see exactly what kind of gains I got, plus I'm curious to know.

I see you left your stock snorkel on, that should help get some cooler air into the engine bay at higher speeds, it's not worth wasting money for the same effect.

yeah who knows with these aftermarket intakes ? i dont guess i would go back stock but i saw no difference in having a frankencar midpipe or injen intake, the car did ping on hot days with the injen and doesnt at all with the frankencar so im just going to stick with the ugly midpipe setup.

just buy something cheap i wouldnt wast to much money with the intakes

Does an Injen CAI produce good sound? Is the sound about the length of tubing before the throttle body? Or the material?

I just took the snorkel off my intake and run a K&N in the stock airbox. Sure it's a HAI, but it growls nice at WOT.

All intakes make sounds, and I heard that some people with the Injen like the sound it makes.

hey man, i have a much easier idea for you. Go on ebay, get a midpipe, or even just get a short ram kit. just use the midpipe in place of the stock resonator. hook it up like you would to a regular CAI setup and keep your stock airbox. THEN buy a K&N plate filter and put it in. This setup will give you OPTIMUM power, better throttle response, and more power through every single gear.
It's quiet, but if you feel the need, just hack your box.

all i gotta say is the first day i did that setup, i could not believe the improvement in power.

just putting in my own 2¢

I agree, we have that little scoop at the hood, which to me looks like it pulls air right from the grill before the air gets anywhere and gets heated up. I think stock is best, because honestly, how much does a CAI give us anyways? nothing very noticable in my opinion...

Stock is of course best.
