Lately I have been dreaming/Seeing a lot of Imprezzas and I can just hear the turbo upgrade as the go drive by . . . I'm a suckler for FMIC, the kits arent hard to install at all.

But I dont have ~$15k for an imprezza nor and Extra $1.5k for CF hood FMIC, turbo upgrade.

If anything way down in the future the scooby would be in addition to the max.

How's this for love??

First of all, I hated to part with my 3rd Gen Maxima. When I first got my 4th Gen I30, I was ready to get rid of it because it tried to kill me (the reason I joined here in the first place) when the cruise control malfunctioned while backing up and slammed my car into a wall.

I looked around at other cars but did not find anything that had the same amount of features and road feel for the same price (bought it used).

So, I decided to disconnect the cruise control and keep it. However, the pedal positions drove me crazy (the gas pedal was located too far to the right and behind the center console). It was the reason why I did not buy another 4th Gen (that, and the cruise incident).

So, again I went looking for a replacement, but did not find anything within the same price range (I did like a V6 Solara I drove). I took my car to a body shop and had the mechanic bend the gas pedal up and to the left. Now, it and the brake are in a perfect position.

Just for grins, I occasionally test drive new cars (not that I could afford to buy one right now). In the past year, I have test driven a new Sonata, Accord, Civic EX, Acura RSX and TL

Yesterday, I got to test drive the new Civic Si.

Y'know what? I wouldn't trade my I30 for any of them. I might trade it for a G35 coupe, but then again, I'd b e giving myself a daily dose of whiplash with it.

All in all, I will keep my car and keep it going as long as possible. I put 303K on my Max before I sold it and got the '98 I30. I may wind up putting as much or more on it (especially after I get enough bread to do a VQ35 swap).

Will you buy another Max

So it got me thinking about polling you guys about how many of you, in hind sight, would buy your 4th again?
I would definitely buy another Maxima. I don't know that I would buy another 4th gen though, because I have the newest one of the 4th gens, and it is getting kinda old. I love my Maxima, but I would get a newer one.

I would get a 6th gen, or even wait to see what the 7th gens look like.

I actually did, I'm on my 3rd and would have no problems doing it again and again and again. Man, I love these cars. All colors, 5sp or auto, modded or not, even the ricer wanna be's. I am a Maxima owner.period.

If it "runs great," why would you need a new tranny and an engine rebuild?

These cars are barely broken in at 200k

I love my car and I would love to have it handed down to me again. It was my first car, and still the only car I've ever been comfortable driving. I'll probably have it for a number of years as a dd, simply because it's like home for me.

I have, and don't regret in the least. I fell in love with the Max in the late 80s, and finally bought a 99GXE new. Ran it up past 140k, with bolt-on mods, before it was totalled. The insurance pay out was within $100 of a 99SE-L with less miles that I found in the paper, and I jumped on it. Both 5 speeds, and the SE-L rekindled my love of the car with its little extras. Re-modding it piece by piece, as well as bringing up the maintenance from the previous owner, has been a fulfilling weekend hobby.

That being said, I'm not as happy with the latest Max offerings. But I may keep this car until the wheels fall off.

well just to add my 2cents on the situation: I had 2 cars before my 4th gen and both were pieces of junk. I kinda was in the rice mood and drove a ford ranger, then drove a ricer and killed it. Now i drive the exact car that i want. I am out of my rice stage and in to just keeping the car tidy and fun. No regrets yet. And to answer the question fully, i would buy one again, but newer, lower miles, and a manual. other than that, same.

As many others have said, I would buy the car again, but I would go for a 5MT. At the time I bought the car - almost 5 years ago - I knew I wanted a fully-loaded 99 SE w/ black leather. I was willing to go with white, silver, or black, and I was up in the air between AT and MT. So I found mine (silver), and worked out a pretty killer deal for it (the dealer was new and it was his 1st sale so he just wanted to make it happen no matter what), so I couldn't pass it up. But in hind sight - yeah, I really, really wish I had a stick.

Other than that though, this car is perfect for me. I love the ride, it has just the right amount of power to be fun but not get me in too much trouble, and I'm still to this day a huge fan of the simple, classy interior. It's just very comfortable to me and right now I still can't imagine driving anything else every day.

I bought our 1999 black on black ES with 5 spd new for my wife. Its been absolutely great, and has never been in the shop. No rattles, nothing. Perfect wife's car.

Now that I'm driving it I'm less convinced. Not "sports car" enough for me. Handling is good, but not good enough. Power is good, but not good enough. Looks are good, but not good enough.

And the front wheel drive? I had no idea how irritating it would be. Totally ruins the fun of ripping around corners or leaving the lights hard.

Nope. I'll need a RWD to be happy. Maybe G35, more likely an XK8 or 330 coupe. There's a shortage of manual trans RWD coupes out there!

Yes, I would for sure!! My buddy has a 5th Gen SE '00 and its sweet too. But I do not like how sluggish it shifts (auto). Also, it has a more luxury feel. My 4th gen SE may have 30 less horse, but it has a more sporty feel and shifts harder. I guess it depends on what you want in your Maxima.

Well, if you love the smell of burning rubber, this not the car for you. Yeah, FWD really sucks on wet roads compared to RWD, doesnt' it?

Id definately buy mine again. Id most like put more time into finding the right one. I bought this one when i was 19, and it was a spur of the moment type thing. Id most like get a 5spd and maybe black. I love it though. I think id rather put more money into keeping it running and being able to keep it for a long time, than to buy something else.

There are no doubt better cars but overall these cars are damn good. That goes for performance, looks, and quality. Hell, i can rip away from any civic not even trying, and my cars way hotter than a civic too. its no vette but for the money we all have nice cars. my next set of wheels will be a bike tho, so no max after this summer, o well.

As much as I love my car, being that its my 1st car, I've been the one doing all the work to it (no mechanic has touched it for as long as I've had it), and its never failed me, if I were to sell it I would not get back what I've put into it.

If for some reason I could not have my Max right now, I'd be all over a black or white 96-98 BMW 328 coupe 5spd, no doubt about it. I love my car... but there's nothing like a Bimmer, even if its less power than what I make right now, its a Bimmer lol.

I had a 95 se that I regret trading in 2 years ago. I should have kept it. I still rock a Nissan Pathfinder and a 240sx, but I miss my 4 door sports car. I was going to trade both vehicle's in for a 99 red se Maxima with 18k miles on it, but someone bought it before i got to it. Damn!
