jics are very good if you get the upper modles....but best bang for the buck d2's or ksports.......they are coilovers.......the main reason everyon buys them is because you can adjust your car anywhere from stock height to 4-5 inches down......and you get to choose, just try to buy ones that you adjust the height by the lower mount and not the spring

JIC and Progress are the best overall (JIC's quality control and customer service are suspect though, while Progress's are apparently excellent). Very expensive though.

D2 and Ksport are the best bang-for-the-buck -- about half of what the above coilovers cost.

Tein Basics are good too, but not for extreme lowering.

they are basically the same thing, except D2s are purple, and Ksports are orange. I like the orange better, and they lil bit cheaper.

The limiting factor to lowering a Maxima is not the coilovers themselves. Most coilovers can lower the car 4-5inches without problem, but at a certain point the suspesion geometry is completely off, the alignment corrections are ridiculous, and is nearly impossible to drive on the street. With Ksports, D2s, or JICs you will be able to lower far more than you should ever need even in a show environment, much less a street or track.

Agreed forget handing when you go beyond 3" down. Also, you can get another 1" or so drop with smaller tires. In this pic I'm down about 3.25" and still have 1"-2" of wheel gap.

I am down 3+ inches and I believe may car handles excellent.

Based on those measurements you will not have 1"-2" of wheel gap. Unless you have a real small tire. My tires are tucking. I'm at 24 1/2" in front and 24 3/8" in the rear. I have a ZERO finger gap.

I agree that going too low actually does hurt handling. My car handled best with D2s and maybe a 2.5-3 inch drop (fairly high for coilovers). IIRC I think I was around 26-27'' from middle of fender (lip) to the ground.

The smaller the tire, the more drop that you get without really "SLAMMING" where there is still alot of handling.. Too much would exceed handling, and basically hurt your control arm, and others..

This my car, that used to be dropped on k-sports. This was slammed, and my control arm/or axle did not go out on me, and I drove like this for a whole month. I could have dropped it more, but that would be overkill. And yes, the wheels were tucked in the front and rear

They were small - the Azenis in that picture were a 22.7" diam (worn 215/45)

Was going to start a new thread but I will continue here.

I am picking up a set of JIC A2's from some in the forums and I wanted some opinions. Regardless, I have to get them becuase the deal has already went thru and products have exchanged hands, but as I was reading a sticky in the 5th gen forum about coilovers, I noticed that a good amount of people have had issues with the JIC's. Expensive issues. Then I heard they are guranteed to rust and its suggested you remove them in the winter as the are more likely to blow. But I know someone that had the A1's from last summer and had no issues. Whats your gus opinons on this. I was thinking about keeping these or selling them to get the Boss Chen's from Larrio. ALl opinions welcomed.

Very much agreed. When going for coil overs one should let how low they can get the car be the deciding factor. Both Ksports and D2's will get you lower than you'll comfortably want to be. The better question would be which coil over is better bang for the buck, and which will leave you with less headaches.

If you just want to get low, you can get some Ksport springs that will drop you low, and you wont have to worry about adjusting, or preloading. But for a super low drop you'd want to be able to adjust dapening.

JIC's have gotten alot of bad reviews. But you cant knock it till you try it. Slap them on your car, drive around see how it feels to you. If you like how it rides, then keep it.

They don't make A1's for our cars. Or else I would have been all over them.

i'm selling me car right now, and parting out all the rims, Ksports coilovers, and shiets. If you interested in having a coilovers, let me kno, i'll let it go for cheap. My ksports is less than 4 months old, 1 year warranty is still here.

I think cheapest price for ksports is 785 i think, and its in our GROUP DEAL. I might selling my coilovers, way cheaper than that price, its still pretty new no problem at all. I'll hit you up if it still available in the couple of weeks.

Not knocking noone, but I wouldnt buy a used coilover, you dont know if its leaking or anything, and the warranty is not transferable. So you will have to pay the company to fix it. If your going to buy coilovers, Buy New.

You could lower your car as much as you want but that doesn't mean that your axles will last. Usually, anywhere from 2.5 - 3" of drop is pushing it. Ask anyone with K-Sport and they'll tell you that they go thru axles every few months. Again you can lower your car as much as you want to but depending on how low it goes will affect your cars reliability. Just my 2 cent.

Of course, no one would be willing to tell you that they have busted their axles going so low. I know that many who have already commented in this thread have had their axles replaced at least once as I have seen them post about their blown axles before.
