* URGENT* Overheating Problem

I am stuck out of town and need quick help.

The two fans on my radiator are not coming on and the car is overheating. The temperature gauge is reading hot. The water pump and thermostat seem to be fine.

Does anyone have a clue what this is and how to fix it?
Could it be a temperature sensor before the fan relays? If so, where are they, where can i get them, and how can I replace them?

Thanks guys!

Silly question, but are the fans plugged in?

Yes, they are still wired to the relays.

Does anyone know what fuse controls these fans?

The relays are located under the hood, there should be a small black box near the battery and another over by the power steering fluid. The relays are in the one close to the battery i think.. There marked fan 1,2,3 on top. I would turn on the a/c and see if they come on then, this activates the relays. The other box under the hood has fuses in it, check and make sure none of them are blown also.

Just had the same problem you did. Run the car with the A/C on and try to start the fans by hand. Do they start to move? Is there any resistance in the fans? I bet you need to replace the motors. I got the whole assembly shipped brand new for under $150 on eBay. You'll find that just motor at any part supply store is going to run you at least $180 each. Once I plugged the new ones in they kicked on immediately.

Be careful with using your hand to start them! You wouldnt want them to magically start up right when your about to push the fan blade.

Hey fashizl, I am stuck in Houston (the car is in Sugarland). Thanks for the info, I will try to turn the fans by hand when I get back to my car sometime this morning. Thanks for the link. Are there two fan motors? (The ebay link says "motor" not "motors"). Where is it (they) located? Thanks

It has it all. They are actually a parts supplier and they probably use the same description to describe all similar parts for all types of cars. Oh yeah i just sent you a PM.
