drop resistor mod???
what is the drop resistor mod? i know it has something to do with an automatic transmission. i was thinking about doing it, but i want to know exactly what it does to your tranny to help it shift better. thank u all.

it's a switch you install that allows you to bypass your drop resistor only when going WOT. allows for quicker, more crisp shifts. the reson for disconnecting it only at WOT is, under dormal driving at partial throttle with no DR plugged in, the shifts will be very harsh.

You could simply pull the plug, which is on the driver's side strut tower in the engine bay, but please do the "real" mod which can be found in the stickies. Your transmission will thank you later...

[QUOTE]alright, thanks guys i dunno if i want to do that, it doesnt sound like it is good at all for your tranny./QUOTE]
It does help the trany, but only at WOT, when ur at WOT the mod reduces the lag(slip in the tranny) when shifting, the lag is what kills the trans when switching gears because the internals of the tras are essentialy spinning at high speed trying to engage and thus wearing the gears. This is not a problem when in normal driving situations but at WOT the more line pressure u have the faster it will snag the next gear without rubbing(slip). I have the mod on my 99GLE and i have it on a toggle switch that i use only at track meets. Ive never had a problem with it.
just my .02$

FWIW the 'gears' are never trying to engage, every gear in the trans is always engaged.
