Picture Request: Cattman exhaust
Picture Request: Cattman exhaust
Can someone post a couple of Cattman exhaust pictures on a 4th Gen Maxima?
I just got my Cattman installed today and the tip is angled a little towards the left. In my eyes it should be aligned dead center with the bumper.
Also - my tip sticks out about 2" and does not hug the bumper nicely. I think the shop might have put the whole exhaust on wrong.
Overall I am very happy with the sound but I am not happy with the look. I will post pictures tomorrow when it is light out.

Well, it took me a couple weeks to get to installing mine and taking pics, but here are a couple more. My whole exhaust is stock except for the Cattman rear. It does stick out an extra 2" compared to the original, but you get used to it.

Every car is a little bit different, and the other comments are correct, it is sometimes necessary to tweak the hangers a bit to make the fit perfect on your car. These parts really don't vary in dimensions from one to another - its just a matter of closely adapting them to the car. That's why I tell customers that the basic installation of a catback isn't difficult, but if there are adjustement requirements like this, its real useful to involve someone who's worked with exhausts for several years (at least), because they know exactly what to do, to eliminate a minor rattle or misalignment.
The 95/96 and 97-99 rear valances are little different from each other - one comes out farther than the other - so we try to come up with a tip length that will work with both. Its just isn't practical to manufacture two different muffler sets.
The one thing I mention to anyone doing an exhaust install (and you probably made sure this was OK since there's an info sheet in the box about this) is to make sure the resonator section is "right side up". If its upside down you don't realize it just looking at the thing, but it will cause a misalignment going back through the muffler/rear section.
