Oh yeah those are pretty narrow...and tall. I have some 205/50 on my car right now and they dont feel like they put enough contact on the road. I'm planning on going with some 245/45 next and those are meaty as hell. Try to go for a 225/40.

205 is waay too small. Stock tires are 215s, so stick with that size as the absolute minimum. 225s or 235s are what I would get.

205-40-17 is ok for a CIVIC!!!! Thats the generic 17" ricer tire size so thats why they always price there packages like that. If you want to keep the outer diameter the same as stock and go a bit wider I suggest getting a 235-45-17.

if you want to keep the same stock diameter, no, they will not match. also, why do you need two threads for this? get something with a wider track if you want a 40 series. 215 or 225 like others have suggested

17's are small on a 4th gen regardless. I'm pretty sure you're not dropped either, so it's going to look like Uncle Bill's pickup truck. Do some research in terms of tire size, rims, and drops. For another couple hundred, you could get a decent 18's package with tires.

because any individual with their car dropped would not be asking about 205 tires for 17 inch aftermarket rims.

Maybe I'm not explaining this correct, so you think I'm trying to be a smartasss. It would be in your best interest to get at least 225/45 size tire to provide the best rubber for your aftermarket rim. Since you are a donating member, the answer is just a click away.

edit: I just noticed that you have a 6th gen. Those 17s are going to look really small...I would suggest at LEAST 18".

edit 2: Why the hell is this in 4th gen? Why were there 2 threads about this? Take this to the tire/wheels forum.

205/40 is small, the ride with those would be terrible. Even 215 is a bit small.
What springs do you plan on getting that make you think you will rub?
Many members here are dropped pretty low and are running wider tires then that.

rubber bands........i think it would rub with anything much bigger with the springs im getting.................that alone says you are not lowered.....cause you have not got the springs yet.

you will not rub at all, and i hope those tire sizes are going to be going on a 6th gen cause it will look tiny

I had 235/45's on my 17's. Good size, and good amount of rubber. I agree that 205's area not the correct size.
