Intermittent Sensors

So it seems I have a intermittent CEL stating Crank Shaft Position Sensor...anyways, I only get the light and poor starts when and after it rains....I have lost several pieces of my inner fenders and plastic skids in the process but anyways, as soon as it drys up after about a week my CEL turns off and it starts like a new car! What is the cause of this? Could it be water contamination or a faulty sensor?! Any advice beyond getting new skid p0lates will greatly be appreciated!
