need help with my brake caliper.

how can i tell if my rear caliper is shot or not? when i installed my rear rotors today, i didn't have to turn the piston to install my brake pads in. does this mean that my caliper is out?

Did you re-install the same brake pads?

Yea, i reinstalled the same pads. maybe that is why i didn't have to turn the pistons. BTW, does anyone know why the inner pad has a pin attached to it? the reason i asked is because i have two max's, and when i do brakes, i normally keep the good pads because they don't always wear out evenly. so, today, i installed the inner side with the pinless pad. will that be alright?

thats why you didnt need to retract the piston. You'd need to retrack the piston when installing new pads and will require the piston to be further in, in order to make it over the pads.

You'll never have to adjust the pistons if you put the same brakes back on. Your calipers are fine, if that is your basis.

no, it's a huge ratcheting wrench. i don't think they are zinc plated because they only cost $20 a piece.
