sticky brakes

After driving around for a while, my rear brakes begin to stick, slightly. it is obvious when accelerating that there is something dragging and i know it is the brakes. when i stop it is only the rears that are smoking slightly and smell burnt. I have stopped using my E-brake when i park (its a 5spd) but the problem still persists. whats going on? any thoughts? thanks

Does it stop sticking after the brakes cool down?

i seem to have the same problem. I fell as if the rears are stuck onto my rotor and i hear a metal grinding noise. Hopefully it's just the pad telling me to change them, but i think my caliper is stuck. Idk what i should do first...

caliper could be seized or maybe the caliper pin is dry and need lubbing.

as has been mentioned -check the caliper pins.
I've had a pin stick once (rotor smokin' hot) ,was able to
simply clean ,grease and reinstall. On another occasion,
the caliper pin corroded into the caliper - took an hour
with the caliper in a vise and a vise grip on the pin, till
I could get the pin out . I put in a new pin and all is
fine . Pins cheap -- rear calipers expensive.

buy new calipers and use that ebrake religously when you stop and park your car, if you use your ebrake every time, itll help keep them from sticking

i have a problem too.... with the front brakes.

here is what happend. i changed the front brake pads and fit them on. everything normal but i didnt check for clearance (ie didnt try to spin the rotor while it was on the jack). just a note - they were STUCK... didnt move at all... i didnt find that out until i got home and everything was smoking.

let them cool off and put the old pads back on, luky i didnt trash them yet. they are just thin enought to not cause the problem and thick enough to not be changed quite yet.

the top pins can move in and out of the shaft's but the bottom pins are seized on there and rusted to hell.

i already put in an order for the torqe members and pins on each front side becaues i couldnt get those things un stuck even with a sledge hammer.

i havent checked the rear yet, but i hope its fine

I agree about the sticking caliper slide pin. Try regreasing the slide pins and use your parking break all of the time.
