I just finished doing the last side (rear). I had done the other rear 2 months ago or so. I know I should've done both together.

Anyhow I tried holding myself up on a hill but it won't (i have an AUTO). The new side that's been done, doesn't seem to want to hold; or both. Perhaps it hasn't settled in yet. I pull the EBRAKE just b4 putting the tire back on to check and the rotor doesn't SPIN.

Last month doing just 1 side rear, the car could hold. I"m guessing the 'OLDER' side provided the hold but it's odd how this time the OLDER of the 2 could not hold? (lol confusing)

While driving, I also hear the rotor/pad in contact. Kind of like it's touching. Is this normal?

Any ideas? I haven't really bedded the brakes in, cuz its too much traffic now.

Well, I'm not sure about why your ebrakes won't hold. However, Disc brakes do not have a return spring like drum brake, so the pads just sorta stay there(they do get pushed back somewhat because their is not more force against them by the hydraulic fluid). Its difficult to explain but you kinda get the idea, the pads and rotors are in light contact so the friction is negligable.

 

And no, bleeding the brakes have nothing to do with the ebrake since its cable actuated(on the same calipers).

 

I notice the rear brakes don't have the pin thing that pushes the pads back out like the fronts.

They hold on light incline surfaces, but on a hill it wasn't able to.

 

Ya I made sure everything was properly done. Even the EBRAKE line that was disconnected to do the car. I've checked it and it was all fine.

I'm guessing the surface just hasn't gripped yet and will need a 'HOT" bedding in.

I've bleed b4, but will do it again this weekend cuz I need the car.

 

mine seem to do that now, when i did my rears, everything went fine, put hte handbrake on when i parked on my driveway, its kinda steep, and the car was making creaking noises, i guess i didnt put the handbrake on hard enough so now i just put it on harder, doesnt really bother me, you might need to adjust the hand brake. its in the fsm

 

there is an adjustment screw under the middle dash piece. I had to adjust mine cause mine were gripping to hard. It will tell you in a Hanes manual, only takes a couple of minutes to fix.

 

just do not go to far cause it will punch a hole in your boot....the screw sticks out to far and wil cause it

 

do you just turn the screw ???

 

did you hook the cable from the e-brake handle, to the caliper back up? that might be your problem

 

You have to set the ebrake and basically entire rear brakes. They are a screw in type and will only come out a little at a time. Just keep setting and releasing the e-brake about 10-15 times and see if that fixes it.

hey, how can you get the ebrake cable to disconnect from the rear caliper? Tried pushing the spring part in to compress and slide the ebrake cable off but just won't come off...any easy techniques to get it to come off?
