i have a hissing sound comming from my passenger wheel...

i have a hissing sound comming from my passenger wheel...as the title says. It does not make the hissing sound the whole time, like one big sound, it goes hiss hiss hiss, and speeds up as i go faster. i have had my axle replaced, but it was making this noise even before the axle was changed.

Could this be my brake clips and the metal "plates" that the brake pads slide into?

Either your breaks or your wheel bearings.

Could be the elusive hissing tire snakes. Never seen one though. Take some pictures if you find the beast.

I'd say its the brakes, or not trying to be a smarta**, but what about the tire (check its pressure)? Did you remove the 2 (per side) "brake pad separators" that keep the pads from rubbing the rotor (have excessive brake dust)? Thats what i'd say it is, if its the noise i'm thinking of. Mine makes it because like a dummy I removed the separators. now it makes a sond like you said. as the wheel spins, faint scraping/ hissing noise.On-off-on-off-on-off --faster as you speed up. Autozone sells the separotors and pad clips in a set for both sides for about 10 bucks (front brake hardware kit its called). Or how long since pad change (could be the indicator)? Wheel bearing would growl at speeds around 30-40mph if it was bad.

I've also had things get caught behind the brake rotor and drag against the hub. In my case, it was a rock and it made a horrible chalkboard squealing sound, but if it's something else it might just make a hissing sound.

Get it checked out soon - it might be the squealers on your brake pads telling you it's time to change them.

i have done my brake since it has started, putting neew pads and rotors..............i was thinking i maybe bend on the hardware or something. i do not have the seperaators cause i lost them long time ago. the kit at autozone runs 6.99 so i will try that cause it is very inexspecive, and it is a place to start, if not i will get the wheel bearing changed.
