wheel alignment
wheel alignment
I changed my front struts, which caused the need for a wheel alignment. i finally got it done and now they say it needs a certain kit on one of my struts cause my car pulls to the left when ever i let go of the wheel? are they bull****ting or could this be possible. the struts werent adjustable they just had those two perfect shaped holes for the bolts to connect through the knuckle.
They may be talking "camber kits" or "caster kits" You may need them, they are just adjustable shims or special sized/shaped bolts. Ask how much they cost, they should not be too expensive. This is only needed when your car is way off in one area of an alignment. This allows the caster and camber of the strut to be adujusted, without the shims/bolts a normal strut is not adjustable.
Thats not terribly expensive but its not exactly cheap either....Have them print out the current specs of your cars alignment angles and then print out the recomended angles.
A reasonable price for a shim(s) are 14$ max. They might not be using shims, ask them to show you the part.

Make sure they put the struts on right!
I had KYB's put on by a local shop and had to take it back 4 times before they got it right. The tire shop couldn't get the wheels in alignment because the mechanic hadn't gotten the right "adapter kit" to mount the struts. The car also felt like an old Nova and made horrible noises on lock.
I think it was something to do with rotating the top plate so it mated with the chassis proper.
Needless to say I have started doing all my own work again.
