CEL code = 14 05 WTF!?

who can define 1405? I couldnt find it anywhere.
I wonder if this has anything to do with the transmission......
and does anyone have pics of where the inhibitor switch is?

it can be difficult at times to read the codes if there are lots of them or you have more than one code showing up with all the short and long flashes. are you sure its 14 long and 5 short ?

i dont see anything on 1405 either ?

11 05: A/T third gear signal fault
12 05: line pressure solenoid or circuit fault
13 05: fuel pump control module or circuit fault

Maybe go to AutoZone and lawn an OBD II code reader for free. Dump all codes. Then refer to FSM to find what's wrong.

BTW, the codes in FSM are P-codes.

Wow, I had the exact same thing happen just 2 weeks ago. 14 05. I reset the ECU and Check Engine light hasn't come on since. But I have notice something odd. When idling (with NO A/C running), the RPM will dip from ~600/650 to 500 and sometimes 400. This does not happen all the time though. And when it does, the engine runs a tad rough, but only lasts 3-5 seconds, then the RPMs pull back up to 650 or so. I didn't notice this before the Check Engine light.

goldtooth, do you notice the same symptoms I am seeing? Anyone have an idea what I should look at for idle dips?

well, the front ones are easy, like 30 min job, but the rear ones took me 6 hours....cuz you need to take off the manifold to get to them....parts i got used and I sent them in to DeatschWerks to get them cleaned and "remanufactured", total was about $100ish to get the injectors and clean them....look for some sources and read up on the replacing injectors

That sounds like you just need your throttle body cleaned. I would do that before I started possibly replacing things that don't neccesarily need replaced.

Ditto, I'll do that. I wonder... The day before this started I put in a cheap fuel injector cleaner and replaced the air filter. I don't remember the brand of the cleaner, but it was a cheapy. Then I filled up with 91 fuel. Is that suspicious to anyone? I just today filled up with Amoco Ultimate and got a bottle of Techron fuel injector cleaner. I'll definately look at the throttle body as well (I've cleaned it in the past, but it's been some time now). I'll post back my findings. Thanks.

It was the intake manifold gasket. My mechanic said that they are usually metal, but showed me the one on my 99 max - it was rubber. So the holes had a few spots where they had gotten out of round and were letting too much air into the engine. Hence the loping idle and erratic RPMs. He replaced it and now I remember why I love the max so much - I got all my power back!

Old post i know, but since i just pulled a 1405 code i thought i'd bring it back up.

The past month the car has been rough on idle in gear, then last week it got really bad from the knock sensor dieing, knock sensor has been replaced, now it's just rough at idle in gear again. It's got a 0302 code for EGR flow, so i'm thinking it's due for a cleaning, but i to can't find any information on the 1405 code.

I just replaced the P/N switch that sits on the front of the transmission, its like under the battery- area. I went and got it from the junkyard for like 5 or 6bucks. I am AUTO, in case anyone is wondering. Since then I dont think it has appeared, but I have also changed out a bunch of other parts, so I have no controlled variable.

This code is obviously just a ghost code that accompanies OTHER codes
for example the OP got 1101 for inhibitor switch he replaced that and all the codes are gone , then BunGhoLeo gets the EGR for 0302 roll the dice and u get 1405 with it, lets continue the time line: ill bet on BlackMamba and roll a code 0606 for Cyl 3 missfire guess what accompanied by 1405 again...

If this code is NOT in the FSM then it does not matter, HOW can the Computer out put a code that Nissan itself doesnt even know about ??

Its just random hex code dump, in C programming this is a phenomena when the computer outputs a set of random hex digits, much like a windows XP program HEX dump which is uesd to generate random code for password protection....

long story short the reason i said that is because this thread is forgotten and like 3 people in the history of the ORG got this code,(hmm yeah i can search too!!!) this is not in the FSM so what else is there to talk about ? lets all go to a nissan dealer and ask them what 1405 means ? somehow i doubt they will tell us.

now lets find out which dealer this guys works for, a 5 year nissan tech

Clearly, since numerous people have pulled a 1405, it exists. Nissan built a whole s-load of engines with pronblems that it took them years to diagnose. They clearly do not know everything.

Your logic about griping about the old thread falls on deaf ears. He searched, he posted, he did what we tell people to do.

How many times have I said to report a post as opposed to being a d!ck to the poster?

Your attitude was over the line. I am cleaning up the thread. Life moves on.
