Should I Keep My Chrome Wheel Fender Trims?? 5 PICS

First off, these trims were on my MAX when I bought it 8 months. It is a 1998 GLE in Silver Metallic which is a rare color. I'm guessin that these were standard with my car because of the chrome door accents, chrome door handles and chrome emblems, however, Im not positive about that.

I don't really like these chrome trims on Maximas or on any car in general because it makes it look cheap IMO but I think that it matches the color of my car and my wheels perfectly. BTW, I have 16" Eagle Wheels wrapped in 205/65R15 Falken Tires.

I took one of the chrome trims off earlier to see what it would look like and the wheel gap is way too noticeable. These trims altleast cut down on the wheel gap because I have stock suspension and don't plan on changing it.

I am going to upgrade to 04-05 SE 18" wheels with 235/40/18 tires (or something similar) by the fall or winter so maybe I might take the trims off.

What do you think people??, all respectful opinions and suggestions are welcome!

BTW, since this is my first post, I'll just point out the tinted taillight mod and clear sidemarker mod.... Thats pretty much all I've done so far.

Also, I'll add that I don't have a bulge around my wheel fender like most other maximas..... It cuts straight down.

is it possible to paint it without it later peeling/cracking/rusting, etc? Also would it match the color of the car exactly?

How is that possible? I can even see a buldge in the first picture right above the top edge of the chrome on your front fender.

TAKE THEM OFF! Do not mess with painting, it will look ghetto either way.

my wheels or too small to take them off now ... I guess when i get my bigger wheels i will.

Those fender trims definitely did not come from the factory.

Are those 16" wheels? The style just doesn't look right on a Max. Makes them look small.

Chrome wheel well trims are so out-of-date, plus they just don't look good on maximas but that's just our opinion. If it makes you happy to keep it, then so be it.

just took one off.... the screws are too rusty on the others and im gonna have to get some a power screwdriver to get those off.

the paint on the front passenger side fender under the trim is discolored and starting to rust from a bad cover up paint job the previous owner did when he got into an accident.

im thinking if i should get it professionally done over or just buy matching paint from www.paintscratch.com

here are the after pictures.......

Those wheels and chrome strips put your car in a Pep-Boys parking lot circa 1996. You don't want that to be your style.

With the right wheel/tire and minor suspension work, maybe even just swapping in 5 speed front springs (to even the f/r gap) your car will be totally changed. It is already really clean otherwise.

Get that chrome off of there man, you should invest in larger tires to get rid of the wheel gap. I think once that is done, you will be much happier with the look of your car without the chrome.

yea, its looking better already with just that one off. youll be happy you took em all off, people are right, they just dont look good on a max or any ride for that matter. some newer style maxima 18's will look good. nice choice on the tails.
