Howdy All:
I would like to get leather seats for my 96 GXE. But searching through some past messages it seems like 97-99 have heated seats. Does this mean that the seats are not interchangeable?? Or does it not matter and any seat from a 96-99 Maxima should fit into any other 96-99 Maxima??
Any help would be appreciated.
Best regards,
tony

heated seats is an *option*
on 97-99, I have a 99SEL, and the only options I don't have are heated seats & side-view mirrors (those don't help much here in Austin).
I am 97-99% sure the 97-99 seats should fit your 96. But don't trust me... ask your local dealer.

Guys,
I'm not trying to be rude, but I think you might have missed the point of the original posting. I think tony's question was one of interchangeability -- "If I get heated seats from a 97 or 98 will I have compatibility problems with my 96 noheat?"
Sadly, I don't, of course, know the answer. My bet is that all 96-99 seats will bolt in without problems and that a reasonable handyman could install heated-seat switches. Or if you're not so inclined, I'd bet that you could just leave the heaters unhooked.
What kind of price does junkyard leather command, anyway? Leather is the one thing I wish my 98 had. Well, maybe ABS, and -- sometimes -- a 5-speed. Anybody out there have a black leather interior for sale?
Let us know how it goes, tony!

I priced non heated seats one time and got answers anywhere from $400 to $800 dollars
Sadly no one had them anyway. Best bet would be to get them reupolstered locally and have an aftermarket seat warmer installed. (Yes they do make them, no i don't know who )

Where to get aftermarket seat heaters?
Katzkin http://www.katzkin.com sells them, as well as custom-fit leather covers. Back when I was a dreamer lurking the 300zx list at http://www.twinturbo.net, I noticed a lot of people getting the covers.
For $400-800 for leather, I'm tempted.
Heated seats make me feel like I hafta go potty.
I saw a 89 Pearl Max that had a burgundy interior with white leather seats. Striking and cool. I would be tempted to swath my Max's mouse-fur seats in white. Would make the untinted interior less scalding.

Yes all 96- 99 seats are interchangeable. I put heated leather seats from a 99 GLE in my 96 GXE. I simply haven't hooked up the heaters yet (it's just wires, you can leave them unhooked if you don't want them) They're even powered and the wiring for the power seats is there in my 96 GXE.
