1999 Brakes Maxima

Quick Question. I was getting my car checked a few years ago 2 and I remember the service tech telling me that the front brake pads on my 1999 maxima was (not) original Nissan pads that go on the 1999 model. Is this something anyone else ever heard of? I just contacted Nissan but have not heard back. I am getting my brakes done just hit 40K on my 1999 and just remeber this conversation I had . Took my car to a firestone to see on a price. What a joke I know I can turn the rotors and they say no way . the 99.00 quote went to 330.00 very fast..lol a lot of fraud out there.

im sure they were original pads if you are changing them for the first time. Otherwise they may have been aftermarket pads. I have used nothing but aftermarket pads since my first brake job on my car. I have used Axxis Ultimate, and now have EBC green stuff pads, both which seem to dust more then oem pads.

Anyway what does it matter what kind of pads are on the car? Im sure you can look on the pad anyway and see who made them. There isnt a specific 99 only brake pad as far as I know. I have a link to all the brake pads they make for our car at home, ill post it when i get out of work. Maybe someone else knows what im talking about.

As far as paying to change your brakes.... come on man its so easy to do yourself, or ask a friend im sure they know how.

Not sure I understand your question, are you saying that your '99 ODO is showing 40k? That would be a bit suspicious to begin with, pardon me if you're the original owner. At that mileage you should not need brakes/rotors. Personally I would not turn them, if you're feeling a pulsation replace them. I wouldn't say $330 is fraud, I would say it's someone earning a living and charging the customer to do so. Fraud is taking your $330 and not doing any work and giving you the car back as you drove it in. Fraud is saying that your firm obtained a $94 million award for a client when in reality upon appeal the firm took 5 mil and gave the client 2.
